Royal Mail delivery?
Permalink Closed

Has anyone ever had anything delivered to them via Royal Mail?  My boots that I just ordered are being sent that way.  However, Office only delivers to the address of the credit card used, this being my home address.

I'm curious as to what happens when I'm not home to receive my package (it needs a signature).  Do they put a slip on the door like FedEx and UPS?  Will I be able to pick it up somewhere?

I think it transfers to USPS once it crosses into the US.  Like if you sent something to someone in England you'd send it USPS, but they'd receive it via Royal Mail.

If it needs a signature, they'll leave you a slip in your mailbox and you'll have to go pick it up at the post office.

The USPS delivers it to your door and it's just like any other USPS package once it hits our shores. I've had things shipped from the UK all the time and it hasn't been a problem

Thanks girls!  Those are exactly the answers I was looking for; I was wondering what carrier it went to once it hit the states.  And I'm glad they'll leave a slip and then I can go pick it up

On a side note, I shouldn't have surfed the rest of the Office site, because now there's at least 3 other pairs of shoes I want

Sucks that shipping charges are so high to get them from the UK to me! (Also sucks that I can't find what I like in the US)

Yup, I ordered them!  I couldn't help it   Of course I'll post pics when I get them; I'll have to share their wonderfulness (Assuming I DO like them as much IRL)..

I personally haven't found anything in the US, at least not for less than $300.  I'm really liking what I see for shoes on the UK sites, so I have a feeling I'll be turning there more often.  Although, the shipping is a bitch! (Almost $36 for this pair).

the shipping charge does suck, although office will ship as many pairs as you want for that flat rate, right? how evil is that?

No kidding!  If I had the money, I would've thrown on a few more pairs, since I saw a few other pairs of shoes that I liked (This could turn out to be a dangerous online store for me)...

Carrie, shipping from the U.K. IS a bitch ;P!  I studied abroad their last year, and it cost me almost $300 just to ship stuff home that I couldn't fit in my luggage .  U. K. shoes are awesome, though!

It does transfer to USPS once it gets to america.  And depending on how you had it shipped, it could take a long time.

Oh I know...It said it could take up to 20 working days

The only bonus in that, is that if it DOES take that long to ship them, I should be able to pay them off right away I'll have had another paycheck or two by then

Unless you get priority mail, the way they ship it over, is wait for the next barge or ship or whatever to leave, and then thats how it gets here!  I asked the USPS person the one day i was shipping something to the UK, because the time before that, I shipped something standard mail and it took a month to get to them!

In my experience, the post office does leave a slip in my mailbox when i have things delivered from France or England because they have to scan something at the post office and they need my signature.

but i am never home when our mailman comes so it could possibly be done at home too.
