BR Sale Items question
Permalink Closed

I normally don't go into BR, but went in last week in search of a nice sweater hoping there would be a selection on sale.  There was, but almost everything was badly damaged in some way (as in, unwearable) and they were still charging the regular 'sale' price!

Many things had huge black grease marks on them, some things were badly snagged.  I picked up a sweater and tried it on before I noticed the snag so I went back out because I'd remembered that there was another one there in my size.  I scooped it up and bought it, only to come home and put it on a couple of days later to find a HUGE hole in the armpit .  The sweater was still $35!  With a huge hole in the pit!

Needless to say, I was a little diappointed.  Is the sale section like this at your BRs too, or is it just mine?

Wow, I've honestly never seen anything like that at the BR's I go too.  I can't believe they would even have stuff like that out on the floor.

I've noticed the same thing in some of their stores here in NYC. A few days ago, for example, they had several sweaters with horrible black stains (probably grease marks) on them. I also saw a tweed coat that had pilled very noticeably all over.

I can't believe they are still trying to sell them, either!

Wow, I haven't noticed that at the locations here (at least not yet.) That sucks! So disappointing

I agree - that's weird.  I shop there all the time and have never run into this before.

yeah, all the BR stores in NYC have trashed sale sections. The kicker is that if you want a discount on a damaged piece of clothing, they'll give you 10 or 20% off (I can't remember exactly which), but you can't return it if it's unmendable/unfixable. Unbelieveable!

Sales at BR are rarely what they use to be. The only time I get lucky with them is when someone has returned something recently and they put it in the sale section. Otherwise, the sale clothing is generally messed up.

Gone, it seems, are the days of the $3.99 t-shirt. *sigh*

I think the grease things have to do with BR.  Stuff like holes and snags are caused by rowdy shoppers.  I have this image in my head of a table of neatly folded sweaters and the type of shopper that just tosses over their shoulder any that aren't her size or color preference.  People are like that!  They will use a dressing room and try on at least 20 things and leave them in there inside out all crumpled up on the floor, or pick up the top sweater or shirt on each folded pile, or pull the one out from the bottom toppling over the whole pile!  I hate messy shoppers! Vent done!

Wow, that's weird.  I went in the other day and saw a shirt I liked that was on sale, but one of the seams was coming apart a little, but that's the first time I've ever seen anything remotely like that.

Their sale section usually isn't as neat and tidy as the rest of the store, but I've never seen anything wrong with the actual merchandise before Saturday.  I hope this isn't a trend.

Generally you can sift through the BR sale racks in the LA stores (except on the weekends because of the people), but sometimes there's a ton of stuff on the shelves right under the hanging clothes. A lot of the itme I see stuff that's somewhat damaged but the price is too high. I don't even shop at BR anymore because I don't think their clothes are worth full price and the sale racks are too hit or miss. Gone are the days of $20 silk cardis that still wear well three years later. *sigh*
