I had been searching for the perfect black tote for a while and when I visited Gucci this past weekend, I couldn't get this one off my mind.  It's the most I've ever spent on a bag before...so I'm a little freaked out that I spent so much.  What do you ladies think?

i can't tell - is it even all leather?  if not, DEFINITELY return.  don't pay $800 for a bag w/ leather trim!

Is it all leather? I can't tell from the pic?  If it is, keep it.  I think that gucci has a good resale value and the worth will hold up.

I like it but have had issues with guccis with those handles. Unless you can really afford it (as in, its not a stretch at all) bring it back.

I would actually probably keep it.. I like the shape and even though it is fabric.. the GG logo is timeless.


But when it comes to bags I am such a label whore.. So I'm not sure you should trust my opinion! :)

I say, if you want it keep it!!  Personally, I wouldn't feel like the bag was really worth it if it wasn't all leather (because dammit if you are going to spend the money, Spend it!) .  Here are some other options for you .

For about the same price you can get the Jimmy Choo theola. I love this bag, and it is still classic but all leather.

It may be "well made" but there is nothing special about it justifying the price tag.

It's pretty and all, and yes, Guccis are timeless and classic and whatnot, but I really don't feel like this bag is terribly special.


What about it made you decide to get it?  Was it the shape?  The color?  The label?  The reason I ask is that I think you can find the same elements of what you like in this bag in another bag that maybe justifies the price tag a bit more.  Does that make sense?  Like the Jimmy Choo to me seems like it's a similar shape, it's black, it's Jimmy Choo, so the quality and timeless factor is there, and bonus! it's leather, so it'll last longer and it justifies the price tag.


I don't mean to say that you absolutely should return the Gucci--do what you want and if you love it, then keep it.  But to me, a fabric bag with leather trim just doesn't seem like a $700 bag.  JMO.

in my honest opinion i think you should take it back.  it's okay as far as shape style, but so not worth the price. if i saw someone wearing that bag, my first thought would be that they just bought it b/c of the label. i would also think other mean things, but i won't get into them. 


i really like the choo, and definitely think it's a better purchase.

Ok...don't hate me. I'm keeping it. Here's my reasoning...I really like the style/shape/details of the bag. I admit, I like the Gucci monogram..I considered getting the tan but that seemed to scream logo whereas the black monogram seems more subdued but still there. I came into a little extra money over the holidays and had been wanting to splurge on myself so I can afford it. And the final deciding factor was...

I took the bag out with me to work today for the first time (yes, the price tag is still on...I needed a test run...and yes, i was holding my bag very stratigically so the tag wouldn't pop out..lol) and damnit..I love this bag. I think I will cry if I have to bring it back into the store and return it.

It's official. I'm a bag whore.
