Yaaaaaaaaaay for RelRel!  I'm so glad you've started posting here on stylethread--you have a great sense of humor, so I always love to read your posts.  You seem very cool.

Anyway, here are my questions:

If I remember correctly, you and your bf are foodies, no?  What is your favorite food to cook?  What's your favorite food to eat?  What have you not cooked that you want to try?

I also think you've mentioned that you're in school--what are you studying?

What's been your life's biggest challenge?

What do you want to do when you "grow up"?

What's your biggest pet peeve?

What's your favorite song?

Favorite piece of art?

Favorite piece of jewelry?

(That's about it for now.  I'll probably think of more later.)

so tell me true, are you a native or were you here for school!? (i am always curious)

what do you miss most about living here, other than our amazing football team? does thinking of the o make you nostalgic?

aww, thank you! this is almost as good as that time i won the grammy for best folk music group, i played banjo in the new main street singers.

anyway- here it goes:

from laken1---

How did you pick your screen name? Avatar? my real name is rana, but my initials are rel so...that's where relrel came from, my initials. my avatar is just some random picture of a mandril (monkey type creature) that i found on the internet. he used to be my desktop on my computer for the longest time but i retired him recently. and then i got lonely and had to put him on here to keep me company. he's jack, the angry mandril.

How old are you? 26

Do you have a significant other? yep. till i get sick of him or he gets sick of me, whichever comes first. we've been together for three years now or so (we don't celebrate aniversaries, and never picked an official date anyway) so neither of us is too sick yet.

Favorite food? oh, geez louise. lots of stuff, but im going with anything asian or seafood or soup.

job/ career - do you like it? hmm, don't really have a job. my only real job ive ever had was six years of retail, but im aiming to work on this really cool public health feasibility study with some professors.

Dream job - director of maternal and child health at the World Health Organization. oh heck, just plain director of WHO, i can boss everybody around!

from kaykay --

Fav. colors - green. any shade. kelly, emerald, puce, celadon, celery, dark, light.

Fav. way to dress? casual or dressy? - uh, im much more of a casual dresser, cute flats and such but i feel so alive and good when i dress up a little with kitten heels or something. i do a ton of walking and im in school so im usually in jeans or slouchy trouser pants with flats.

Do you live alone? or with b/f , roommates? with the bf, but i actually prefer to live alone. id live alone if it wasn't silly to do, rentwise while dating someone seriously.

Do you have pets? nope. and prolly never will have any. i can't stand pet hair.

your hobbies? uh, shopping, duh. but prolly reading is my biggest hobby. ill read anything and can't stand to be without a book. i actually have a four or five page list of books that i need to look up at the library. so, i guess you could say my hobby was researching books too. i love books, and the library and all other stuff related to words.

from ncshopper --

If I remember correctly, you and your bf are foodies, no?  What is your favorite food to cook?  What's your favorite food to eat?  What have you not cooked that you want to try? well, i actually don't cook. im the veggie chopper, the food taster, and the dish washer. ive gotten slightly better since the bf has been tutoring me but im a terrible cook. luckily the bf is an awesome cook. he can throw three random things in a pot and they taste good.  i can't quite seem to get the hang of paying attention to the food on the stove. and i have no clue what to do with spices, ive gotten pepper and salt down but after that im lost. but, i love to ask john to cook pea potato curry, black beans and rice, and veggie soup. fave food to eat is prolly asian, chinese, vietnamese, any type. id really like to learn how to cook seafood better and with different things.

I also think you've mentioned that you're in school--what are you studying? im doing my masters in public health after graduating from undergrad with my bachelors in medical anthropology and women's studies. im pretty sure that im focusing in public health on policy and management.

What's been your life's biggest challenge? oh lord. actually, being social and making/keeping friends. i tend to be very antisocial so i have to force myself to be the one who makes plans and such. i could be quite happy for the rest of my life just working and then coming home with takeout and a good book and never seeing anyone ever, but i know that's not healthy so i won't do that.

What do you want to do when you "grow up"? a business suit, pumps wearing, kick ass kinda woman. a director of a not for profit health clinic, or director of an international health organization or something along those lines.

What's your biggest pet peeve? i have a lot! slow walkers at the mall or on the street, people who don't talk in class ever, dishes left in the sink over night, litterbugs.

What's your favorite song? the roots song featuring cody chestnut, called the seed. it makes me wanna dance. anything by willie nelson, pat benetar, alicia keys.

Favorite piece of art? dog barking at moon by joan miro (that's my desktop right now on my computer). i also love anything by marc chagal, georgia okeefe, and japanese prints.

Favorite piece of jewelry? i don't actually wear a lot of jewelry because i have issues with a lot of gem mining. but i do tend to wear my pearls a lot. and i wear an antique diamond right (yes, on my left hand) that the bf gave me, it was his grandmas, she found it on a playground years and years and years ago. it's tiny tiny tiny.

from erin --

so tell me true, are you a native or were you here for school!? (i am always curious) not a native (but the bf sorta is, from greensburg). i came out for school at pitt and ended up staying for six years. i do love the city despite its many faults. for all of ya in the area, i worked at the payless in downtown pittsburgh across from the old lazarus for five years!

what do you miss most about living here, other than our amazing football team? does thinking of the o make you nostalgic? i miss my sister. she followed me out to finish her bachelors at pitt too but stayed. oh, and i miss tuscany on the southside, it has the yummiest salads ever. the o does not make me nostaligic! just slightly naseous. my sisters boyfriend works there, some sort of manager or something. oh, and the entire southside, and the strip district. and and brueggers bagels, they don't have bagel shops in philly!!!

Ha, since you lived in Pgh, maybe this should be Yall, You all/guys, or Yinz?

Here are mine:

Because you are an avid reader (as am I):

Favorite book of the moment?

Favorite book of all time?

And b/c I am a “Yinzer” at heart:

Mad Mex or Fuel & Fuddle (after 11pm of course)?

Oh, and I am sure we crossed paths at some point.

fave scented candle: actually, no. i don't burn candles cause it goes against my no clutter philosphy. i actually just burned the three stupid christmas candles i got all in one day so i could then justify throwing them away. but i do burn incense, and that scent is nagchampa. oh, live anywhere? somewhere in the southeast asia, perhaps in hongkong? my fave board game is rumikub which is like a cross between gin/rummy and upwords.

krispy kreme or dunkin donuts? the main dunkin donuts that is closest to my school is also where all the stupid crack heads come to meet cause it's right next to all the trains from outside of the city so they come down from outside the city to go to the two methadone clinics nearby and then stop for some crap and sugar on their way home.

coke or pepsi? neither really. i try not to drink soda cause it's pure sugar and just makes me sick. but once in a great while ill get some insane urge to be a pig and burp all over the place and ill grab a vanilla coke or something.

you all or you guys? yinz, it's how pittsburghers say it! or yunz.

hot or cold? hot all the way. once it gets below like 50 or so im done. i like the sun.

north or south? hmm, ive only been south of the mason dixon line twice, so i don't think im really qualified to judge this one. but im going to go with south...cause it's always fun to pick the one answer you know nothing about!

boxers or briefs? well, i know you were kidding but im gonna go ahead and answer anyway. boxers!, briefs are disgusting in my very grossed out opinion.

yinz, yinz yinz! (my bf does the best burgh accent, somehow it's sexy when he starts going on and on about the mellon arena in that accent. yes, im a bit demented. the funniest word in the pittsburgh accent? pueblo!)

fave book of the moment: im going with a series actually. i love piers anthony xanth series. there's about 28 or so books in the series so there always will be another one to read. it's about this wierd panhandle shaped world (looks a lot like florida!) that is filled with magic, even the plants are magic. and connected to it by the panhandle is the non magic world called mundania. there the best books ever becase everything is a pun or play on words and i love nothing better than word humor. for instance: the centaurs of the magic world live on centaur ISLE but then it turns out that theres this one super magic centaur who's talent is to give other people magic in mundania because his talent is his magic centaur AISLE. get it! isle/aisle! i love this!

fave book of all time: again, a fantasty series. i love the jacqueline carey series, the kusheil books. ohh, and the laurell k hamilton anita blake series too! both of them have great characters that you actually want to know more about and of course, lots of yummy sex!

mad mex or fuel/fuddle: hmm, while i love the enchiladas and the margaritas at mad mex it makes me mad how small that place is so im going with fuel/fuddle and thier yummy nachos!
