I am taking part 4 of the CPA exam so I get a free day off of work (during busy season) no vacation or personal days lost.  But there are some people leaving the firm so there is an after work happy hour that I'm heading to around 5:30 followed by a coworker friend's b-day party at 10 that night.  Most people will be going right after work and will be in business casual.  A few will be in jeans since some clients allow that - mine does.  But since I'm not going to work I don't know what I should wear and I hate to waste dry clean only clothes on a few hours in a bar too.  Dry cleaning just costs too much.  Plus I want to be comfortable/dress nice for the birthday party at 10 since its at a bar right down the street so no need to go home and change.  Plus I'm not sure if those people are going to the happy hour first or not (we all work together).


So can someone please tell me what to wear to these 2 things???  I want to look cute but I don't want to people to think I went home after work and changed to look cute and try to pick someone up (I already have a bf but he works for the firm too so it might look that way to people who don't know us) because people still talk about the girl who would do that 3 years ago!!  I don't want to be "that" girl.

I would wear jeans, cute heels, cami or some sort of shirt, and a blazer.  That is something I would think you would be able to wear to work, since you are allowed to wear jeans.  I know it is boring and nothing out of the ordinary, but I kind of feel that is what you are going for.

I was sorta thinking that.  Ok so I got this for Christmas click for details and i think it could work but i need undershirt/cami ideas.  the one they have in the picture I really wanted but was holding out for it to go on sale (just wasn't worth $44 to me) and they snuck it on sale and I missed it here in town.  So any other ideas.  I can go wherever tomorrow on my way home from the test since its across town and I will pass malls, marshalls, the galleria, etc.


I am on a shopping ban but this is an exception since the blazer was a gift and I have no way to wear it. or so that's how i'm justifying it.

I can't find it online, but when I was at phantom of the opera last weekend I saw a girl weariing same blazer with a cream colored shirt, it was one of those shirts that was regular jersey material on the bottom half, and then from the chest and above it was lace.... Soooo soooo cute, i have a deep purple velvet blazer too that i haven't worn, and im thinking of getting that shirt to wear with it... Hope you understand what i mean, in the meantime ill continue to look for it online


It was something like this... But much much cuter and richer looking, this one looks really cheap... and remember this girl had it on in cream..

oh that sounds nice nicoley.  have you seen it in the mall or might have an idea of what store might carry something similar?  I wonder if white & black would have something sorta similar (i just hate paying full price right now...hmm)

I know ive def seen it in the malls, these types of shirts are around alot right now, but i can't think of where i saw them... ill keep looking online in the meantime...

I love purple and teal (think NylaBelle).  Also anything pink would be great.  Yellow is another option.  I'm sure you have something in your closet.  Pair it with a pair of black heels and some jewelry and you will be set.

Thank you for the vote of confidence but i have nothing in my closet for going out.  It is sad but i never went out in college so now i'm going out and every weekend its the same thing... what do i wear...i have nothing to wear.  So now when I go to the mall the bf makes me look specifically for going out clothes so he doesn't have to hear me.


hmm I like the idea of teal and pink and I like nyla's clothes from rampage and I just discovered we have that store hidden in the galleria so i might have to stop by.


Nicoley- I have seen those shirts and they are cute.  I actually tried on the same type of concept this week at marshalls but it was a shiny material with a see through ish material. wasn't my size though Ok will definetly look at the mall tomorrow.

I just bought this shirt at The Limited to go under a velvet blazer I have - it looks really cute. It also came in cream.  Maybe you could check it out if you have a Limited near you?

oh that is cute shopchicago and of course there is a limited at the galleria.  hmm... must fail the test early so i have more time to shop tomorrow. (I really misplanned and scheduled this stupid test at the absolutely worst time - besides next month- and am really not expecting much in the way of passing it. Maybe i will surprise myself.)

$19.99 - I don't like this one as much but it's pretty lace & looks comfy - many colors

ETA: I have this one & it's on clearance at Target for less than $10 - much cuter IRL
