What powder do you girls use for your face?  I'm interested in pressed powder.  Can anyone recommend one they love?

ETA:  I should mention that I have acne prone skin and use face meds to keep my skin clear.  i just want to make sure I don't buy something that makes me break out.

I love Nars pressed powder- it makes your skin feel like silk and look very polished (without looking "done").

I use Clinique...It's the only one that hasn't made me break out so far. I like it:

JoceyBaby - I've always wanted to try the MAC blotting powder, but it's colorless right?  I'm not sure it would give me any coverage?  I don't use foundation, only concealor and powder..would it work for me?

If you dont use foundation, try the Mac Studio Fix. Its great- with more coverage.

Is that just powder?

I second this one. It's great.

shopchicago33 - Not JoceyBaby but I also use MAC blotting powder. To answer your question, it's very sheer but IMO not totally colorless, although MAC says it is colorless. In fact I have fair/medium skin and originally I used medium in the blotting powder but I just switched to the medium/dark and it's perfect. It gives me just enough coverage and shine control but doesn't give me a whitish cast like the medium used to do. It's definitely worth a try.

Here's how MAC describes it...

A unique pressed powder designed primarily to provide shine control without adding any noticeable colour or texture. Sets foundation, finishes faces. For use in professional situations and for frequent touch-ups. Blot Powder contains Mica and Silica to adsorb excess oils and reduce shine on the skin's surface. Can be applied with the puff that comes in the compact or with a powder brush like #129 Powder/Blush Brush. Perfect for touching up Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation throughout the day.

Yes, it is just powder, but can be used wet or dry depending on your coverage preference. I use it dry over a light foundation. This is what they

say:

Studio Fix is a powder and foundation in one that combines good coverage with ease of application. Designed to be used dry, the powder and pigments create a matte, velvety texture. It contains Silica, which helps to maintain a matte finish by absorbing oils on the skin, as well as Talc to provide a smoother, less reflective, matte finish. The talc has been milled to a microscopic size to provide a beautiful texture while allowing the skin to breathe. This product is long-wearing. It is available in a wide range of colours. It can be applied with a brush, sponge, or a powder puff.

I think it works great. My skin is fairly oily and I do not wear foundation either.

I put on concealer and the blotting powder and I'm out the door.

It really controls shine and gives me the perfect amount of coverage. (I don't like to wear a lot of makeup)

I would give it a try.. if you buy it from Nordies, you can return at any point.. and if you buy from MAC, you have 30 days to try it - no questions asked.

Let me know if it works for you!

I like MAC Blot Powder as well. I guess technically it is translucent but it also comes in 3 different shades. How much coverage do you want? I think it would work to even out skin tone a little bit and help blend wherever you used concealer but it definitely doesn't provide much coverage. Normally I wear some foundation so it's hard for me to tell.

cc - that's exactly what I want it for.  I'm very fair skinned - I normally wear an ivory shade of concelor/powder.  What shade would you girls suggest?  I looked at the lightest shade of Blot powder, and it looked white!

You might even be a medium. I am usually a Lightish color and I wear the Medium/Dark.. and in any other brand.. I am so NOT med/dark.

I would go in and try them on to be safe.

I'm very pale also and I use the Light shade. It doesn't look white in person. It's just really light.

Thanks girls.  Any other recommendations in case I decide against the Blot powder?  I'm curious to know what the rest of you use.  TIA!

I have and love Stila Illuminating powder. But it's not really sheer, it's more of a light/moderate coverage. Someone else here (Lilykind?) uses it too. But it's great -- I wear it instead of foundation.

halleybird  - I'm looking for something like a normal powder that provides a little coverage, so maybe this would work for me??  Tell me more!  LOL.

Yes yes yes! I use Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation too! I wear it over foundation because my skin is full of acne scars, plus I still battle acne regularly (grr...). By itself, it provides a teeny bit of coverage and a subtle subtle shimmer. I love it...it hasn't made my skin go bananas like most other things.

I used MAC Studio Fix and HATED it...it broke me out so badly that I wanted to cry.

I also REALLY like Armani's Silk Powder compact, but that's $$$ ($56 I think). It's very similar to the Stila one except that the powder is much more finely milled and it's a more matte finish.

My friend with acne-prone skin uses the minerals, bare esscentials? I think that's what they're called. Personally, anything with talc makes me break out, and every powder has it, so I don't use powder.
