Stupid cell phone question

Why is my cell phone flashing the little envelope indicating that I have a text message, but my box is empty?  It won't stop. It's bugging me. I keep thinking I have a message, but there's nothing there.

Some phones let you clear it yourself when that happens or try shutting down the phone and then turn it back on.

I already turned it on and off twice.  I think my phone is just freaking out.

Try taking the battery out and then putting it back in.  I've had that happen before and removing the battery was the only way to fix it.

Mine does that if my inbox is full.  If I delete all my text messages that i currently have it will send the new one.

Mine does this occasionally - shows the envelope when I've just gone through and deleted e-mails - and I have an option of manually clearing the envelope icon. If you have a "messages" section in your scroll-through menu, it may be under there. I think mine is called "Clear Count" or something simliar. HTH
