Weekend Non-Shopping
Permalink Closed

How is everyone doing?  I know I'm starting this early, but I'm at work (my turn to stay overnight, yuck) and SUPER bored, which is making it hard to resist the temptation of online shopping.  And I looked at the weekend shopping thread and saw all the cute stuff that people got, which makes it even harder!

Great - not doing it. I'm just not doing it! I passed on a great jacket at...walmart of all places...someone started a post under the shopping section about what we have passed up & i put a picture there.

I'm not shopping, i'm not eating, i'm really not very fun or pleasant to be around right now!

Here here! Or is it hear hear? Well anyway - ditto to what Laken said.

I DID, however, purchase a pair of flats at ... payless. That's right. For $3. That's right. I really don't think that counts, does it?

my version of non-shopping is just avoiding places...so, so far i am doing great!

i was pretty excited though, that earlier this week i went into marshall's and didn't see anything i wanted to buy!

Well, i haven't bought any clothes yet, but I did end up spending alot getting my hair done yesterday.  Hair cut & highlights/color at the VS academy, ended up spending about $122 including tip and parking.

And I got a duvet cover & shams at West Elm.  But those are for the bed.

See how I can rationalize everything?  hehe - and Lisa - $3 shoes don't count! hehe - i'll help you rationalize too - it's less than the cost of a Starbucks coffee!

I'm terrible.  So bad.

I've been in Santa Barbara for the past few days for a work conference and there's shopping galore in SB.  I tried to be good, but it was hard.

I ended up buying a green long sleeve shirt on sale at Anthro for $24 (I need more long sleeve shirts, so I'm okay on that end) and I got a cute little ring for $7.  And then we went wine tasting, so we got two bottles of wine.

I didn't go overboard or anything, but I didn't exactly not shop either.

I'm officially starting my shopping ban tomorrow.  Well, it's more of a shopping cutback that's limited to $100 a month on non-essentials.

I am doing well.  As posted earlier, I have been to 8 malls this week for work and didn't buy a thing!  oh, stared and drooled at a few things in windows and walked through Off 5th... but didn't buy anything!!!

the BF and i went through Anthro last night and i did get a belated Christmas gift for one of my best friends- an apron- which was on sale for $15!  all of my friends are getting belated Christmas gifts this year so they don't actually count towards my ban- since it isn't for me!

I'm actually doing pretty well, too. I only got two Christmas ornaments for 75% off from Anthro, since I had planned on buying them on sale and they were even cheaper than I had expected. I did go through their sale racks but didn't see any clothes I liked!

I'm doing fine.  I almost cracked this afternoon when my sister cancelled our plans, but I ended up planning my menu for the week and going grocery shopping instead.

Not technically on a ban, but this is the first weekend in a while where I haven't been to a mall, Target, bookstore, etc.

I bought some pj's but it was with money that i got back from a return - does that count? I also got that dog tag necklace from Aldo, but it was only $5 & I've been looking for some forever. And I spent a christmas GC at Victoria Secrets on the GREATEST bag that I planned to use as a carryon, but it's now a knitting bag (has 3 separate compartments so perfect for all my projects) & I swear I may go back & get another one tomorrow - it's only $10 & it is a perfect size / shape.

On the upside I did return that horrid swimsuit that I bought before Christmas in case I needed it for my vacation so that was a $64 credit.

Saturday was easy...went out to celebrate brother's birthday at a restaurant and show him around LA.

Sunday my brother and I went to Magic Mountain, where I spent $50 on admission. It was a fun day and totally worth it, though. Even better...I can go free for the rest of the year!

Tomorrow is going to be the toughie...brother and I are going to Camarillo outlets because I've never been. I need a few things, but right now I have NO money to my name.

count me in- i'm on a semi ban. I bought $10 in christmas ornaments from anthro for my sister- but they cost nothing cuz i had $150 in returns woo hoo. so $140 back. and i have a $40 return for sephora that i will do soon. Just bought some food (of course, need to cut back here) and spent an extra $10 to get the Nars laguna/orgasm combo (i had a $25 store credit). so not too bad. i haven't really been in stores though due to busy-ness, i think it'll stay that way til mid feb. its weird not shopping for a really long time.

I am on a "less stuff better quality" ban... but I found a creative way around it and ended up spending almost $100 at the fabric store. oops! BUT, I will be making two skirts and a super sute dress for that- all of which I LOVE.

The first skirt is almost done- it's a champlaigne colored bubble skirt and it is too cute. I'll post pics when it's done (I am way proud! I feel so "project runway"! )- probably another day or two.

Cool!  I'm in love with this cotton bubble skirt from Anthro, but I really don't want to pay $88 for it.  Did you buy a pattern for the skirt?
