I was at a NYE party and there was this spread that basically looked like a block of cream cheese with some sort of sauce poured over it. The sauce was red and somewhat chunky and tasted tangy/smokey. It's hard to describe but I thought the sauce tasted almost like a mix of cherry pie filling and bbq sauce. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? My BF LOVED it and I'd like to find the recipe. TIA!

Ok, I think the sauce was raspberry chipotle sauce...that sounds about right. So does anyone have an easy recipe? Or should i be able to find this in a grocery store?
i wonder if it was some kind of brie with a raspberry or cherry sauce.
here's two good ones that he might like if he likes cream cheese based dips:
spread cream cheese, add a can (or two) of crabmeat, add cocktail sauce on top. i love this! i use triscuits to dip.
spread cream cheese on the bottle of a pan (you might need two), add canned chili, and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top. bake in the oven at 375 until the cheese is melted. dip with fritos. the guys in college loved this when we would watch football (with forties of course..how classy!).

since you are in the south it makes me think it's some sort of jezebel sauce? Here is a sample recipe - but there are literally hundreds of variations on it. (got this one from allrecipes).
Jezebel Sauce
"This sauce is a sweet surprise to the palate. It is an unusual combination, but my guests have raved about it. Served over crackers with cream cheese, it makes a wonderful appetizer." Original recipe yield: 3 cups.
* 1 (10 ounce) jar apple jelly * 1 (10 ounce) jar pineapple fruit preserves * 1 (8 ounce) jar prepared horseradish * 1 tablespoon ground dry mustard * 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a small bowl, mix together apple jelly, pineapple fruit preserves, prepared horseradish, ground dry mustard and cracked black pepper. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours, or overnight, before serving.
We also do all types of pepper jelly on cream cheese & serve with wheat thins - you can usually find it at the grocery - there are tons of kinds of that as well.
Were you at a house party where you can call the hostess? Even if you don't know the person well, surely they would be flattered if you loved a recipe they served.

I do this with pepper jelly. Just put a block of cream cheese on a plate and pour the pepper jelly over it. It comes in red or green, but I use the red cause green looks too much like lime jello.
You can get it at most grocery stores--definitley schmancier ones like Fresh Market or even Harris Teeter.
Oh--I serve it with Carr water crackers and those thin Ginger snaps that come in the box with cellophane on the front (I can't remember who makes them, but they are with the fancier cookies).
I just read back and saw that laken already mentioned pepper jelly! And the jezebel sauce sounds delicious! I will have to try that one.
