Are there any mothers out there who had to go back to work after just 6 weeks of giving birth?  I'm due on Jan 22nd and because of an unfortunate job situation I'm going to have to take the standard 6 weeks maternity leave.  What I wanted to know was, how did you deal with the guilt of leaving your baby when they are so small?  He's not even born yet and I already feel like a horrible mother!

although I am a SAHM - I do have to work time to time...

My best advice would be to find someone you really trust to watch the baby - that will make it a *little* easier!!

I went back after 6 weeks and Karina said it well. It is hard but look at it this way, working will  help with diapers and all the baby things   you will need and maybe use the time you have left to find a good sitter you trust.I remember I checked into all the day cares before chris was born and  made vists to see how they interacted with the the babies and children

I went back fulltime when my first was 11 weeks old. it was very hard, heart wrenching! I cried every night when i came home. Even though I had family watching her and I knew she was safe it was still hard. But eventually you realize that sometimes working is what you have to do to be the best mom you can. I would never have been able to provide for her had I not gone back when I did. Just cherish those 6 weeks you have. They go by fast but they are wonderful. And babies are so smart and resiliant that that little one will always know you are Mom and how much you love him...
