So, my grandmother, who is 75, has been dating this guy, V, who is in his 80s, for about 3 years now and he proposed about a year and a half ago. They're totally adorable together and they're like teenagers--they go running off to Mexico for days at a time without telling anyone, just for kicks. But, she's been single since she and my grandfather divorced about 35 years ago, so she's gotten to be pretty independent and stubborn. Anyway, she said yes when he proposed, but back-pedaled for the past year and a half or so, because she didn't want to "give up her independence."
Anyway, I called my parents from the airport today on our layover in Phoenix and my dad told me that my grandmother and V ELOPED YESTERDAY!!!! How adorable is that?!?!?! V was a pastor and so he got one of his pastor friends to perform the ceremony in their living room and not a soul knew about it! I'm so excited for them!
So, now my grandmother, and my mom and I have all eloped. I think it runs in the family!
that's soooo cute. i went to my 78 year old grandpa's wedding last year. i think it's great when people can live a "second" life. i know that she's definitely keeping my grandpa young at heart.
what a precious story!
