Y'all, I have to gush. My birthday was so kick ass! I came home and the boy laid rose petals out EVERWHERE. He had little trails leading into each room with surprises in each one. Okay here goes:
I walk in the front door to the living room. There's a trail of rose petals leading to the coffee table which has a dozen pink roses on it, a bottle of wine, and two wine glasses. Hee!! I follow the trail into the kitchen and (can you believe it?) he did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen!!! Yes! Then I follow the 2nd trail of roses upstairs (which are swept) and into my bedroom. And to my surprise, my bed was made very nicely, with rose petals all over it, and all my clothes that were all over my floor and ironing board (I have an issue with hanging up clothes after I try them on when deciding what to wear for the day/evening) were all hung up, folded and put away!!! Shocking! I followed the 3rd trail into my bathroom where all the laundry on top of the dryer was folded and put away. Yippee!!!
I was shocked. Not only am I terribly messy but I HATE picking up stuff. Isn't he the best? So, on to gift time. When he comes over he gives me a card (and he made some comment like, "don't worry, it's not the 5 karat Harry Winston," which totally freaked me out and is fodder for another story). Here's the bad part. The card, first of all, didn't even have my name on the envelope and on the inside, he'd just signed it and written happy birthday. Nothing special, nothing personal. Okay. I'm still giddy about the cleaning and all so I overlook it. Next he pulls out a box from behind the couch and gives it to me to open. Huge problem. The box is 1) a Christmas box (I HATE getting my bday presents in holiday wrapping) and 2) it's not even wrapped! I decide to overlook it again because those things don't really matter all that much right? Inside the box is a cute bag I'd admired at a local boutique a few weeks ago. It was a sweet gift and all but the bag was only around $20. I know all this and I actually am not even bothered by the fact he didn't spend much money on the gift because I know the roses must have cost a lot and the cleaning was priceless.
Sooo... the boy is acting all fidgety and weird. He finally confesses that he was just really nervous about giving me my gift and hoping I would like it. Sweet. We get in the car to go to dinner (yum! fondue!) and when we park, we're about 15 minutes early so I suggest we stay in the warm car and talk for a few. He's so anxious to get in the restaurant though! (At this point I've even told him how relieved I am that he didn't get me a pricey present because I'd feel very guilty accepting it - I'm poor so he spends a lot of money on me.) We get out of the car and he pops the trunk. For what, you ask? Another present! And this time it's wrapped so prettily in non-Christmas wrapping and there's a card! A real, honest-to-goodness-something-written-in-it card! Yes! And guess what the present was?
Yep! A ring from Tiffanys!! And he wrote a poem that he put in the present too. Isn't he the sweetest thing ever? Oh and the kicker is that he wouldn't let me pay for my bday dinner. Of course, right? Except I'd planned on paying for my bday party karaoke party Saturday night and he took the bill for that, so I insisted on paying for dinner. He slipped the server his credit card before dinner even started! I'm so damn lucky to have such a great boy!
awww that sounds like the cutest boy ever! i LOVE your ring, i want my bf to get me that same one now! haha. i'm glad you found a keeper, though your horror dating stories were always hilar
i am so happy for you!!! this is just so fabulous and i don't know a girl who deserves such a great guy more. YAY for blubirde's boy and double YAY for blubirde!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awwww!!!!! Thanks everyone for the well wishes. It was a great birthday, indeed. I feel kinda bad now for what I got him for his bday (Rockets vs. Cleveland tickets - he wants to see Lebron play once in his life - so he says) but there wasn't any hoopla around it. That's okay though. I have a whole year to plan.
Tina242- Yep! How did you know that thought? Did I write it in the post? I'm so confused... As for the key, it's going to be in the bottom of his Christmas stocking. I can't wait for him to find it!
Holy crap!!! That is AWESOME! It sounds like you've found yourself a good guy. Good for you!
Okay, quick question though. Who picks up the rose petals? I've always thought the rose petal thing was really cute, but in practicality, someone has to clean them up someday. Who does it?
i always feel bad for ladies who have birthdays at this time of the year, cuz i feel like often it gets lost in the hustle and bustle, but i don't feel bad for you this year! sounds like it was amazing...
