Me and the hubby went to see this last night and it is super long, but very good.  It's actually very sad (or maybe I've just been super emotional lately, but hubby thought it was sad too).  I predict many awards for this movie.  All the actors did a superb job, imo.  I was very impressed with Jack Black, usually he plays such a comedic role that I wasn't sure how he'd do, but he was perfect in his role.  Anyone else see it?

I saw it too! I thought it could have used some MAJOR condensing, and I could have done without a lot of the scenes where people stared at each other endlessly. That, and I couldn't stop thinking about Mighty Joe Young.

That said, I am a big Peter Jackson fan, and I thought he did a good job. It was very well thought-out. The Heart of Darkness parallels were really good -- I won't spoil it for anyone, but the plot sort of follows an inverse of HOD.

FP - I thought Jack Black did a great job too. I was really skeptical about his casting, and our audience kept giggling at him in the beginning, but he played his character very well. And did you love Naomi Watts' clothes or what? (I want all of them.)

Until I saw the previews, I was so NOT going to see this movie.  But then I saw Jack Black on the Today show (I think...the one with Katie Couric and Matt Lauer) and they made the movie sound really great.  Now it is on my list--I am glad you two liked it.

ETA:  I just talked to my mom and she just saw this movie this afternoon--she walked out of the theater bawling!

i loved naomi's wardrobe as well- I wanted it all... esp. her shoes in the last scenes.

I saw this too, and loved it. See it on as big a screen as possible -- it definitely makes for quite a spectacle! The scene where Kong battles the dinosaurs was incredible. I also loved Naomi Watts' clothes. Her look in general was beautiful.

Gah!  I knew it.  I kept telling the boy that it reminded me of another story.  I'm glad I saw the movie just for her clothing

I can't wait to see this! I'm glad you all reported that it was good. Now I don't have to make up reasons to see it so no one will guess that it's just b/c of my major crush on Adrian Brody. Hee hee!

Eh. I saw it yesterday and I could have lived without seeing it. It was waaaaay too long (and I'm usually a person who likes long movies) and all the stupid fight scenes were annoying. Another thing that bugged me was the end. What happened to the ship crew? They just went away or something? That storyline seemed so abrupt.

I initially liked the HOD storyline too but I didn't think they saw it through. BUT I did like the end. It was pretty cool. And yes, Ann's outfits were kickass! And I loved, loved, loved her hair. I NEED hair that beautiful.

Adrian Brody is super hot too! Yum, yum!

I just saw it yesterday, and I was really sad too. There were a few minor plot holes, but I liked all the action and the love story. Adrian Brody is to die for, what a hero! The captain was also hot and heroic...if only men were so valiant in real life *sigh*

We saw it last night and loved it.  I agree w/FP - I thought Jack Black did an amazing job, it was so good to see him in a role that wasn't comedic.  I love, love, love Adrien Brody - he's such a good actor and so hot!  The movie was 3 hours, but BF and I agreed that the time flew by because it was so good.

Just saw it, and just have to say one more time: I Mr. Brody.

That is all.

Oh, and the movie was good, too.

Maybe it was all the sugar from my sour patch kids, but I felt queasy. Like the camera was swooshing around to fast. At one point I was begging Mr. Kong to put Ann down because she was moving around the screen so fast.

oh, and it was too long, but I find a 90 minute movie too long. I'm typing this while at home watching a movie!

I LOOOOOVED it.  Oh my gosh, I was such a baby though, I was totally crying.  I was so enthralled by the movie, those 3 hours absolutely flew by.  I so recommend it.
