Are skirts easy to have tailored?

The skirt from anthroplogie that I was so in love with (the matinee skirt with the colorful chevron stripes) is on ebay but it's a size 12 and I'm usually a size 8 in skirts.  Should I get it and have it tailored?

ETA:

matinee stripe skirtHere is the skirt from the anthropologie website.

Here is the pic from ebay

Is the ebay pic just distorted and making the skirt look short?

I'm no expert, but it seems that the zig zags would make it difficult to take in that much.

Thanks, I hadn't even thought about the pattern on the skirt being a problem.  I'm sure you're right.  Oh well, I guess I'll keep stalking ebay for the skirt in an 8.

If anyone else knows this answer to this question, please let me know as I have a skirt that needs to be tailored as well.

Even with the stripes - it wouldn't hurt to take it to a tailor and just ask...

hey ladies well I  have stuff tailored all the time , it should not be a promblem if there is a seam she can open up and take in, I have a lady  that does this at the dry cleaners and she does wonders, if you are not sure take the picture to the tailor and ask her. I hope this helps

Thanks KayKay, I may try that.  I just love the skirt so much so I really want it to work.

needsfashionadvice, it's not just you: the EBay skirt looks WAY shorter than the Anthro one.

The pleats and the pattern will give a bit of a problem. If you were to take in equall from each side of the seam then the pattern would still match I think, but it would still mess up the pleats. A good seamstress would be able to do it for you though.
