Has anyone ever had back spasms?
Permalink Closed

I'm smooth and all (Ha! Yeah, right), so on Friday night, when I was at the bar, I fell down the stairs and bruised my back pretty good.  It was very sore and moving a lot hurt (On Saturday/Sunday).  By yesterday, that soreness had started to go away, but last night, all of a sudden my back started spasming where the bruise is.

Anyone have any home remedies at all?  I've been icing and heating it, as well as taking Ibuprofren for any swelling, but I'd like to know if there's anything else I can do.  It's painful!

TIA!

i had one in my neck one time and couldn't move my head at all.  it freaked me out so much that i went to the ER, and the doc told me that it wouldn't have stopped on its own--that i was right to go in and get an RX for muscle relaxants because that was the only thing that would cure it.  not sure if yours is the same thing, but you might want to get checked out.

A few weeks ago, my husband started having horrible back spasms after he suddenly took up running.   It was so bad that he couldn't get out of bed.

We ended up seeing a doctor and he gave my husband a prescription for a muscle relaxer (he had mild success with that) and a steroid to relieve the swelling, which worked really well.

I'd recommend going to a doctor just to make sure you didn't do anything serious to your back.  Your doc will be able to give you something stronger than ibuprofen, which will help with the pain.

I haven't had this problem but my mom has back spasms pretty regularly. The only thing that works for her is muscle relaxants. I'd check in with a doctor, just to be on the safe side.
