Red Shoes...
Permalink Closed

I have a pair of red suede round-toe ankle straps, and have never worn them (have had them for six months or so) because I feel like the only thing I can wear them with is a red top...which makes me feel way too matchy. I've tried out several combinations from my closet but nothing seems to work quite right with these shoes...which I admit, I bought on impulse. I had no red shoes prior to this (though I love red) and they are Via Spiga (another weakness of mine) and on a really good price...but not such a bargain if they never get worn.

Any thoughts for outfits with red shoes? I don't know why I am having such trouble with this.

i'm a fan of all- or mostly-black outfits, so i like to wear red shoes with them to add a little something.  red also looks great with grays, blues...actually, i guess i wear them with almost anything.

i think if you tried them on with a bunch of stuff in your closet, you'd be surprised with how much they work with.

btw, the shoes sound fantastic.

My favorite ways to wear red shoes are :

*with gray pants and a black top
* tan pants and brown top, or brown pants and tan top

I wore my new red shoes yesterday with grey pants and a black top.  I'm going to post a pic in thread style today when I can get around to it.  I'm also planning on wearing my shoes with pink, purple, and teal.

I agree with asf - just try them on with different things in your closet and you'll find tons of options. I tend to wear my red shoes with gray and black to add a bit of color but I agree with a lot of these other suggestions. Depending on the shade of red, I love red shoes with camel or brown and blue.

I wear my red shoes with cropped jeans and my olive military jacket. Also they look great with longer jeans, a white top, and a black jacket. The red gives the simple color scheme a punch.

Thanks, everyone - somehow I'd lost track of this post in the holiday scramble. I guess I am just not feeling them with my current clothes, but I'll try more outfits on and see if something clicks for me.

Another outfit idea, olive pants and a black sweater.  I also love red shoes with camel.  Camel colored pants, fitted white button up and burberry plaid scarf (this was actually one of my favorite "classic chic" outfits before I got on my pink cruscade).

olive pants and a black sweater

Genius, FP! I have both of those, but never thought about them with my red shoes. I'll try it after we are back home from NYE.

Also I don't have any camel pants...maybe they are a "must have" for 2006. I think my problem is that when I wear things like my black pinstriped pants, as tara t suggested, I tend to want to throw on a red sweater...and then I don't want to put red shoes with it. I actually don't own any gray sweaters - no clothing items in gray whatsoever, now that I think about it. But I would love red shoes with a charcoal skirt or pants.

And rocky, I love this:

Also they look great with longer jeans, a white top, and a black jacket. The red gives the simple color scheme a punch.

I have all of the items you mentioned, and I think you and FP have managed to free my red shoes from closet jail...watch for ST posts if it all works out. *s*

I have a chunky red bead necklace that helps me make outfits with my red shoes, too. It probably looks contrived, but it helps me feel less uncoordinated. HTH!

Funny you should mention that; I have a red bead necklace I made this summer and I think it will work quite nicely once I get the outfits together with the shoes. I don't think it's a contrived look at all. Great minds must think alike, eh? *s*
