We are going on a ski trip for 5 days over New Years. I have been super busy lately and left it too long to book our dog into the kennel and now they are all booked up. So now I don't know what to do.

Should I board her at a new kennel if I can find one to take her? Or my Mom has offered to take her but my mom isn't good with "rules" and our dog always acts like a supreme brat after staying with my mom. I know this sound silly but I haven't left her before and I'm nervous. What is the best thing to do so she is happy and safe?

I say leave him with your mom and just reteach him the rules when you get back.  Unless you have someone you absolutely trust to take care of him I wouldn't just start calling around kennels or asking people for recommendations.

we leave my little one with our groomer when we go on vacation.  We tried one of those pet hotels and he was tramatized for weeks!!

The best thing to do if leaving with a new kennel is to first ask around friends, acquaintences, anyone you know to find out recommended kennels- there may be a consenses here of where and where not to leave your pet. When you have found out a few- you must check them out before you leave him|her. Ask to see where they are kept, does it smell really bad- bad hygeine practices. Are the animals that are there presently calm or look anxious? Ask - Will she have excercise available? Tell them your dog has anxiety and could you please come often to pet, talk, visit with ...even if your dog doent have this, it shows that your concern for this pet means they cannot pen em and leave em. Bring food they are used to, a toy, blanket, or\and bed. When you do leave, if possible , call at least once to get filled in on how your pet is doing, they will spend more effort on your animal. I have a diabetic/blind dog and I wont leave her with family members in case anything goes wrong she needs to be where they can properly treat her, and many people are opposed to giving shots of insulin{ thinking they will hurt her or something.

i say leave the dog with your mom.  i know that the dog may be a brat when she gets home, but i'd rather do that than board her somewhere she has never been; and that you don't know about.
