We missed out on Thanksgiving dinner so I agreed to make turkey, dressing & such when we came back - plus I got a free turkey, but I digress..
The dang thing only weighs 9.5 lbs - i put in in the fridge on Saturday. I just took it out to get it ready & I swear I think it's still frozen...is that even possible???? Suggestions? I have it in cool to warm water, but I really need to get it cooking within the next hour or so...what a nightmare. Parts of it seem squishy & thawed, but part of it seems pretty solid.
Sorry, I know this should go in the food section, but I'm in a hurry & need the traffic.

what are you asking? how to thaw it? what's going on?
fyi, i do know someone who swears by cooking her meat when it's still frozen - i don't know why or how, but it always works - i would just throw it in the oven when you need to, whether it's completely thawed or not
I thought mine was mostly frozen until I rinsed it off. The ice came off and I realized that the "frozen" part was just a harder part of the turkey. You could soak it in some cool water for a little while if you want, but I say just cook it!
Ok, i'm going to rinse it off & see what the hell is up. Indie, i guess I really wanted permission to cook it even if it's not all the way thawed out! I mean it's gotta be close to thawed. I'm glad I don't have a house full of people coming over - I'm in a panic & it's just me & the hubby!

YAY - it wasn't frozen - cricket was exactly right - it just felt like it. And FP, i could indeed pull out the yucky!
And btw, is it wrong that I just made cornbread dressing in my microwave in 7 minutes & it's really yummy? It takes my grandmother 2 days to do hers.....
Thanks for the help ladies - sorry, I guess I panicked.

Glad all is well! We had a second Thanksgiving dinner at a friends house the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I was in charge of bringing the stuffing, which is the friend's husbands FAVORITE part of the dinner (gulp). When we ate, he was raving on about how goooood the stuffing was, so whew!
It was Stove top. I chopped some celery and onion and mixed it in. It took 7 minutes in my microwave.
Ta-Da!!!
