Jeans cutting opinions...
Permalink Closed

I have always like having small slits up the sides of my jeans, because I like the way they sit over shoes better that way.  I *sort of* want to cut really small (like 1.5") slits in my SFAM's, but am not sure if that would be stupid because of how much they cost.

If these were ON jeans or something, I wouldn't hesitate, but the designer/cost factor of my Seven's is making me hesitate on doing it to them.

Should I cut them or not?

For reference, this is what I'm talking about:

I wouldn't cut them.  Have you tried folding them under a tad and seeing if that fixes your problem?  They might just be a tad too long ...

It's more the general shape of an uncut leg that drives me crazy sometimes.  I like the way pants flow over the shoe better when they're cut, kind of sprawling over the shoe.

i think since it's a look you really like, you should go ahead and cut them.  BUT, keep the slit as small as you can, so that if you change your mind later, they won't be too short to have them hemmed back up.

i think it totally depends on the jeans and how you plan to wear them.  for example, if they are casual sevens, i think its kinda cool to cut them up.  i kinda like the idea of destroying/personalizing expensive things- makes me want to be olsen rich so that i can have that "eh, its only jeans" disposition.  if they are dark dressy jeans, i personally woudln't cut them.

I feel like you want to, they're your jeans, so you might as well. It sounds like you'll be happier with them if you do. Why spend a ton of money on jeans to not cut them if that's what you love?

Well, I cut them. I feel sort of guilty for cutting a pair of $140 jeans, but yeah, I'll like how they look on much better now. They are just casual jeans, so it works for them

I was going to reccomend taking them to a tailor and having it done so they still look finished. I have some lucky jeans that were made that way, and I really like it. Depending on how you cut them I would still see if they could do this for you.
