Sadness... CPA Exam Update
Permalink Closed

After waiting a little over a month to find out my results from Part 2 of the CPA exam I checked the website and found out I didn't pass the tax part   I was hoping somehow I would pass so I wouldn't have to study all that junk again but I guess I'm going to have to.  I had a bad feeling when I walked out of the test and was just hoping I would luck out.  Oh well.  Now I just want to go home.  Work is boring me to tears today.

Bleh, that sucks!  FWIW, I used to work at a tax firm and almost every single CPA there failed their exam at least once!  You are definitely not alone, if that's any consolation.

Hopefully now that you've taken the test once, you'll have a better idea of specific areas you need to study more thoroughly instead of re-studying all the information?  Or is it one of those where you get 200 randomly chosen questions so every test is different?

In any case, that is totally suckalicious.  Feel better - maybe some retail therapy would help?  Or ice cream therapy, or cookie therapy ....

oh lsu, i'm so sorry!  although this probably doesn't help, you are not alone, in fact i think most people fail at least one section the first time around.  and isn't tax supposed to be the hardest section?  the cpa exam is really difficult and i think it's awesome that you passed part 1 the first time around and have a great job at a major accounting firm.  please try not to worry about it!

pm me if you want to talk...

Catherine, I'm sorry. That must suck. But like LMonet said, there's no need to worry. Several people fail it the first time around. I'm more than sure you will do much much better next time. Relax and treat yourself for all the hard work you've done.

buck up little camper !!  next time you take it you will pass with flying colors !  look at the bright side, you will have an idea of what's on the test and studying will be easier !  so for now, maybe eat some ice cream, buy yourself a treat, and hang out with your dog.  that always makes me feel better. :)

Thanks yall.  I know most people fail at least one part.  Actually out of my friends and classmates from grad school I only know one person that passed this section the first time.  Some didn't even finish answering the questions.  I just wish there was an easy way to study but there is just so much info you can't focus on certain areas.  I kinda know what are some problem areas for me so I can at least work on those.  I'm just praying I passed the part I just took and I'm going to buckle down and study really hard for my part in Jan so I can at least pass 2 parts and have 1 year to focus on the others if I failed them.

Such a rough week!!!  I'm working in Houston and I got assigned to a client in Sugarland (for those familar) which is a good 30 min to 45 min commute from my apt on Monday and Thurs to sit here and update spreadsheets (oh how exciting) and then on Tues, Wed, and Fri I get to do inventories!!! I hate how Houston is the inventory capital of the US for my office.  I get to drive 2 hours to the boondocks in Louisiana to count groceries at Kroger (at least I get 50 cents a mile which helps with christmas shopping).  Wed I get to wake up for 2 am to go to grocers (huge grocery business in Houston) and count more groceries - in the warehouse and freezer at 2 am and 4 am.  Then I get to go back to sugarland thurs and then count more groceries on Friday at 10 am and noon.  I am so ready for the weekend and its only monday!!

*** thanks for letting me whine a bit***

aw, babe, sorry you didn't pass.  we had a guy come into my acct. class last week to talk about the review class.  did you do one?  i know one thing he mentioned was that if you do not pass you can retake the class at a discount or something (they are expensive as hell though so not sure i'd want to do that).  anyways, i know you will pass next time, you are my inspiration!!

Please don't be sad. I know this is the hardest part - seriously some of the smartest people I know didn't pass this part. Please don't be discouraged. I know it is a pain because you have to do it again, but really, it's not just you. I'm so sorry for you, but it will be ok, i promise

ETA: it really sucks that you have to be in boondock TX - i know you didn't move to the big city to count inventory for some sucky grocery stores! You moved for the Galleria!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry about the test and your job sounds really rough right now.  But you've taken the test once already so just consider it kind of a "practice" run and I'm sure you'll do great next time.  Good luck!

don't worry! Lots of people have to take it multiple times. You are a smart cookie -- you should be proud of all the parts you did pass, and remember there are people out there (me) who can't do double-digit addition w/o a calculator.

haha I absolutely love SOX work.  I would do that all day every day if i could.

I did inventory 1 today.  It wasn't so bad.  I had to count groceries on the shelves of kroger behind a worker to make sure they could count properly and of course some of them couldn't!!  I'm off to bed so I can get up in 3 hours to go to a huge warehouse and freezer to count more groceries. I just got back from target and got some styling animal print fleece gloves and matching hat. At least I get all day tomorrow off.  Its only suppose to take 4 hours also

Ugh. That sucks, girl! I have an accountant friend who still has a few *choice* words for the whole business law section. Anytime I talk about law stuff, he mutters a bit to himself before he can actually pay attention to what I'm saying. It's pretty funny. He didn't pass that part - I think he had to take it 3 times - and he works for the same firm you do, only in Austin. (I think anyway.)

And I'm sorry your week is so crappy! I hope you get out early on Friday and get to spend your weekend smelling sweet scents and buying pretty shoes!

(((hugs)))

Thanks blubirdie.  it was actually the 75% of the test that covered taxes that did me in!!  BLAW I'm good with... taxes not so much.  I still have 1 year (next dec) to pass it so I should be ok.

I wish i could go shopping but i just checked the credit card... yep it was maxed out!!!  (well half was due tomorrow anyways but still- its scary)
