kitten heels?
Permalink Closed

i worked in retail for six years of my life so i never wore heels more than an inch and a half and now that im in school that would just be silly to wear heels. however, i like to have a little lift, especially to keep my pants off the floor as i have freakishly short legs (even though im five seven i really should wear petite pants!). so my question is...how do you guys feel about kitten heels? i assume that most of you like them because they are always popping up in the pics of outfits. however, my boyfriend swears that they are skanky, especially when worn with pants/jeans (trouser style too). this makes me a little doubtful of them because he is never wrong about clothes, womens or men. seriously, my bf is one of the most stylish people i know. but he hates kitten heels, says that they look mall skanky. is this true? am i just deluding myself that i look cute with my trouser jeans and kitten heels? and when i say kitten heels im talking a half inch on most of my shoes. do any of you really hate them? do any of you really like them?

ps: check out my new kitten heels! they should be here on monday! that's a fairy on the top!

I love kitten heels. I love having a bit of heel without making me freakishly tall (I'm 5'10"). I do not understand what is skanky about a kitten heel? I think they are very classy.

"Mall skanky" makes me think of way-too-young girls in way-too-tight clothes.

Love the shoes btw, the fairies are precious.

Yeah, I agree with BrazenCanadian-- I equate mall skanky with too-young girls trying to look too old and wearing too-tight clothes. Either that or just any girl in too tight clothes that looks "cheap" (I don't mean that as harsh as it sounds, I hope that isn't offending to anyone). I guess maybe he doesn't have the same definition as I've heard? At any rate, I like kitten heels because I think they look cute, plain and simple, so I don't really know how they could be interpretted as "skanky". If any shoe is skanky it's the really high heeled platformed "club shoes", like these:
, or even these:

I do NOT like those!!
ETA: Oh my God!! That's money inside those shoes! THAT is skanky!

I wear them all the time with jeans or dress pants and think they look fine. I see girls at the college that I go to wearing them and they look cute or funky not skanky. It's all in what kinda of top or accessories you put with it. I think you will be fine, and how wonderful are those fairy shoes. I love them.

I love kitten heels, I think they're classic. I don't think it's fair to label an entire catagory of shoes skanky. Any style of shoe (flats, heels, sneakers, clogs etc) can be designed either skankily or non-skankily.
