black friday (and weekend shopping)

so the crowds weren't so bad, but i went early. at one point i thought i was going to kill someone in macy's. b/f i left my house they were interviewing people in macy's and they spoke with these ladies from the uk who came to the states at this time of year specifically to go shopping b/c of the sales. i thought they were just extremists, but literally every third person in macy's had a british accent. it's amazing that the pound and the euro are so strong that even with a plane ticket it's cheaper to come to the states to shop.

anyway this is what i got:

from bloomies

officially this is the most money i think i've ever spent on a single item, but it was so worth it. plus i got $90 worth of bloomie's cash that i can use toward other stuff so i'm glad i waited until today.

from macy's

Alfani the dark green pair from $23! and a pair of bcbgirls shoes that i can't find a pic of. will probably edit later

from saks

Click to Zoom two pairs of these trousers in dark grey (which i needed) and brown with blue pinstripes

 for my office christmas party.

It most definitely is!  It's not just that the pound and the euro are worth so much; it's also that the cost in pounds or euros is pretty comparable to what we would pay in dollars here.  I lived in the U.K. For about four months earlier this year, and my roommate and i calculated that a british woman who purchased a lot of her wardrobe at Gap would probably spend the same amount of money to fly to the States, have herself a nice vacation in New York or L. A. or somewhere, and buy her clothes at the U. S. Gap.  Things really are that much more - for example, a coat I saw in the States just before I left that was $68 was $58 pounds in the U.K., which at the time was just under $116.  If I ever want to get rich, I'll open a company in the U. S. and then start opening branches in the U. K. and charge the same in pounds as I do in dollars.  That's what Starbucks, Gap, Borders, and so many other U. S. companies are doing.

No black Friday shopping for me...I'm too scared to go out and shop that day .  But now I'm kinda worried that all the stores will be out of my size for the things on my wishlist.
