AMEN! I hate going out for NYE - it's always overpriced, overcrowded, and I am always disappointed.

Not to mention the drunk drivers. I just hate it. I want wine, sparklers, and some snacks at home.

i like being at my own house or a friend's house, having a small-ish casual party, too.  it feels like too much pressure to have the Best.Time. Ever. if you are out at a restaurant or club, and it's never as much fun.

i have to agree. i've always been a homebody when it comes to NYE. i love the cozy little gatherings of close friends at my home or a friend's home the best.

Hmmmm...let's see...last year, my husband and I spent the stroke of midnight in a cab fuming at each other. That would be the worst place.

My best place would be in a house on the ski slopes with close friends and family. Until recently, that's how I always spent my new years. Sigh...such great memories. Ski all day, cook a big dinner, drink lots of spiked hot cocoa. Sometimes we would do the night time sleigh ride and freeze our asses off. We would all laugh hysterically and wonder WHY we kept doing it, but the stars and mountains at night are breathtaking.

My family and husband are all a bunch of sports nuts, so I have spent the past 3 new years at bowl games I wouldn't really recommend that. And this year, we're going to a remote hut in Mexico with close friends and I can't wait!!

I've spent the past two NYE's in Atlantic City ('04) and Vegas ('05).  It was okay.  I had fun, but not any more fun than I would have had on any other day in AC or Vegas.  Probably less fun, actually, b/c of all the hype with NYE.

Honestly, last year, instead of going to the overpriced lounge that we went to, I much rather would have stayed in my room in the jacuzzi with the (then) bf.  Relaxing in a jacuzzi would have been much better than having two glasses of champagne spilled down the front of my dress within the first minute of '05.  Yeah.  Have I mentioned my disdain for the holiday season recently?

Anyway, that said, the best NYE's have been spent at small gatherings at a friend's house.  Hopefully, that's what I'll be doing this year as well.
