Do you ever find yourself ...
Permalink Closed

... standing in the middle of a store, holding some might-be-to-die-for/might-be-hideous item and thinking "I wish I could call my ST girls!  They'd know what to do!"?

Just wondering .  I actually find myself doing that quite often, since I feel like you guys are my girlfriends/shopping buddies.  Sometimes it feels weird that I can't just call up and debate the merits of buying the orange platform boots I found on sale for only $63.97 .

Does anyone else do that?

OMG!  I totally had that thought last week!  I was trying on a coat I bought and was wondering if it was flattering.  I figured I'd buy it, take a picture, and ask for opinions from you guys if I should keep it.  (And I'm actually wearing it right now, but still want to post a pic to see what you guys think.)

I do this all the time! I don't have many girlfriends at all, or a mom or sisters to go shopping with, so the only person I ever take shopping with me is FH! And while he's very patient and never criticizes my shopping habit, he isn't always the best person to ask for outfit advice.

I really wish I could meet you guys in person and we could go shopping together.

i do that all the time when i'm at BCBG.  a lot of times something has been in the store for a while and when that happens, it especially scares me because i think to myself, "if i really wanted it, i would have bought it already"...so then i wonder if i really like it, or i'm just blinded because it just went on sale and someone else is going to buy it and then i'm going to want it, and it's not going to be available.  or if it looks cute on that girl, but i wonder if it's really MY style?  like cowboy boots for example.  everyone was buying them, and then i thought, hmmm, they are such a good price, maybe i want them.  but then i convinced myself that they're just not ME.

i wish sometimes that ST had a 1-800 number i could call when i'm shopping....,that, or i had my bf's TREO, so i could sign online.

usually i call my little sister and have her walk over (she lives close and she's always shopping) and ask her to pop in and tell me what she thinks.  the girls i work with are no help.

LOL - I absolutely do this. I also sometimes think I wish I had XX's number, here is that sweater she wanted & it's on sale for $10 - I wonder what size she needs?

This site has also changed the shape of my dressing choices. Like when I got dressed this morning, I thought "would I take a photo & post this on thread style"? If not because I'm embarassed, really, why am I wearing it? Even if I don't do it, just that thought is enough to make me change or throw something out.

Yes...which is why I take pictures sometimes at stores and have no problem asking you girls for advice because I know you girls know what's best.

I am seriously considering getting a treo so I can sign on to ST online. I got a digicam for TS...why not take it to the next level?

All the time!  I always wish I had my computer with me so I could post a message quick while I'm in the store

LOL!  I totally think this same way!  I think to myself "If I don't feel cute enough to put this picture on TS, then I'm not wearing it" and I'll find an accessory or swap out my shoes for something more interesting.  I won't always take a picture, but I think to myself if I feel "picture-worthy."

I swear, sometimes I wish there was an ST emergency line so someone could talk us out of impulse purchases or tell us that we better not let that deal pass us by!

I do this all the time!  So many times I'll see something one of you posted or was looking for and I wish I had everyone's phone # to call and tell them about it or ask if they want me to pick it up and mail it to them

But yeah, there's a lot of times I find something and tell my BF "i'll have to ask my ST girls their opinion on this" or if something needs to be altered or a I need an idea of how to pull something off, I'll say "my ST girls will know what to do!"

OMG, me too! I had a fit the other weekend because I saw a really cute neighbor of mine wearing the most awesome teal jacket and red boots. I wasn't mad at her or anything, I was just lamenting my lack of purchasing power these days. I went back to my couch, grabbed all my catalogues lying around and started flipping through the pages feverishly. The boy came over to find me practically crying with pages strewn all around me (from where I'd thrown them in furtherance of the fit). I told him my ST girls would be able to help me find some bargains and retool my closet for winter. He had NO clue what I was talking about but to his credit he nodded along anyway. I've since come to my sense and figured some stuff out, wardrobe speaking but man! I needed you guys that day.

I totally did this yesterday in French Connection. I couldn't decide which size and the sales girl was all bored like "yeah, fine, whatever". I was like I need an ST-ers opinion!

Ok, I did something bad on the weekend. Tell me if you think this is wrong...

I was at a party and I started talking to another girl about fashion. She said she loves fashion but has no one to discuss it with. I wanted to tell her about ST but I had only just met her so I didn't know if she was "worthy". I didn't want to share ST with someone who I didn't know. I didn't know if she'd "get" us. Is that weird?

I feel that way too! Mainly because I like that this is a new group of "friends" for me & to add someone of my IRL friends would be strange. Not that I don't want ya'll as RL friends, cause I would but...have you ever been in a situation where you mixed all your friends together? Like your college friends with your work friends? It's just...weird. And I like being able to talk about things here that my IRL friends don't know, or to bitch about them or sort things out with this group. I also don't know if they'd "get it" either. Plus I want them to think I'm fabulously fashionable naturally!

I totally get where you're coming from!  I feel like ST is my little secret sometimes.  Like I can come here and talk about stuff that's bugging me about friends or parents or (if some of you remember) my mother in law, or my career.  I feel like if my IRL friends were on here, I'd feel like I couldn't talk as openly.

haha, yes, i concur on everything!!  What i would really really love, is for everyone to come to my closet and put together outfits for me- the way YOU would do it.  We could have a little get-together at a different member's closet every week!  oh if only we all lived in the same town =/
