I was thinking of making a mini thanksgiving dinner for my bf before we go home for break since he'll have to stay at school and work. What kinds of things should i make? I'll get a small turkey prob (really small), some stuffing, and mashed potatoes for sure. Any other ideas? Also, i am new at buying all this stuff so what brands of mashed potatoes and stuffing are good...im sure most of you make everything from scratch, but if you guys know of things i can get at the grocery store that are in boxes or pre-made, that would be great! Thanks! Happy Turkey Day :)
hey girl, i know this is a little late but i just saw it -- sorry :/
i know it sounds cliche but the "stove top" stuffing from a box is really good -
i do like to make my mashed potatoes from scratch but if you want to buy some, usually they have some prepared ones in the refrigerated prepared food section (usually over by the deli) i hate potatoes from a box!!
if you're trying to keep it small, i would just add one green veg - since it looks like you're looking for easy, why not just steam some broccoli or asparagus?
asparagus might seem a little fancier and you can sprinkle some fresh grated parmesan on top -- mmm
then pop a mrs smith pumpkin pie in and you're in instant thanksgiving heaven!
I agree with indiekitten stovetop is pretty darn good. and also you need pumpkin pie and coolwhip. maybe sweetpotatoes with marshmallows. I cannot however under any circumstances support instant mashed potatos, this is my favorite food in the world and I am sorry I can't. Ohh how about a small ham....Ok I think I am going overboard here, but I am very hungry.
I'm late too - sorry - but I do the Pepperidge Farms stuffing & it comes in several varieties & is pretty yummy. I'm not a big stuffing fan, but I make this during the year for my hubby & he likes it best.
Comes in these flavors: Herbed Seasoned
Cornbread
Cubed Herb Seasoned
Cubed Country Style
Cubed Sage and Onion
ETA: and a t-day feast isn't complete without green bean casserole. YUM
