I am so sorry.  Are you getting alimony/child support at least, from your ex?

Sweetie I am so sorry! Have you looked into the local women's shelter? Any sort of domestic violence program should be a really good resource (I used this a lot last year - there's no point in trying to do it alone). It can be a full-time job finding help, but it's out there. It's just a matter fo cobblign together different programs like St. Vincents, Township trustees (if your area has those) WIC and so on. Being a single mother with no income makes you a candidate for all kinds of help. I would just start going through the government pages of the phone book and see what comes up. Also, if you work at a college, does your school have a legal aid clinic? That should help with suing the ex for support.

With your job, do you know who has the power to hire you for another position? Can you talk to that person? There's definitely nothing to lose. As far as other sources of help, would it work to ask the exes' family for help finding a job or something like that? If they know about the situation, they may offer to help. But I could see that you might not want to do that. Anyway, hang in there. I am so sorry you are having a hard time right now. I know it sucks. And it's incredibly scary. But things will be ok. I swear.

I'm a Staffing Manager at a temp agency, definetly give your placement agency a call and let them know that your assignment will be ending and that you need to get on their availability list. Also what type of work are you doing? What's your background? I may be able to get you some contact information in your area.

Ah Bliss...I should clarify...while this was a temporary job for me, I did not get it through an agency.  The associate dean had come across my resume and thought I could help her with a project.
