I don't get his greatness, plus I hate that his logo is so recognizable and visible on his clothes, that the wearer ends up advertising his brand for free!
Is there a designer that everyone seems to love but when you see their line you just go "huh what's so great?" Mine is Marc Jacobs, everyone raves about him and I just don't get what's so great about his clothes. Who's your designer imposter?
I agree about Marc Jacobs. Now I do think his shoes are gorgeous, but the clothing just looks dowdy to me.
a lot of roberto cavalli's items. for fun printed items, i would rather don Matthew Williamson (i say it like i have the budget to realistically choose between the two ) because while williamson does crazy patterns, his shapes are simple. cavalli does crazy prints and shapes and i think it's just too much.

Pucci - I just can't like it no matter how hard I try.
LMonet, you're not alone. i actually thought of writing pucci first, but i like pucci scarves, bathing suits, and basically anything with small amounts of pucci print, not head to toe retro patterns though.

Zac Posen... i think i just hate him b/c of how he got to where he is today...
What's the story with Zac Posen? How did he get where he is today?
The designer I don't get is Betsy Johnson, like leah leanna said. Her stuff just seems totally impractical for the every day wearer and I find her designs neither flattering nor sexy at all.
Marc Jacobs - Love the shoes, each season he does a few really amazing pieces, but the rest is meh.
Versace - Hasn't been the same since Gianni died.
Tommy Hilfiger - He makes me want to gag. I actually think there are some cute things in the Tommy H line, but I can't forgive him for all that red and blue logo cluttered crap from a few years ago.
Pucci - Vintage pucci is devine, new pucci I can do without.
I love, love, love Betsey Johnson, but her collections are kind of hit or miss and I understand why people don't like her stuff.
I'm also curious about the Zac Posen comment. I really like his collections, but I don't know much about him.
Alexander McQueen - I mean I get him in the artsy sense, and am not one to scoff at "that's not wearable" per say, but I still have a hard time with his stuff.
I like Betsey Johnson's quirkiness and I love her dresses!

i searched for an exact article that would put it better than me, but couldn't find anything without piecing stuff together.
anyway, when he graduated from Parsons- industry people were pissed b/c he had some backing to immediately start his own label and then Sean Combs went in with him and voila- he got his "start" without any struggle- none of the "american dream" qualities that people love to hear about. ex. tom ford resurected gucci and ysl. people love him because he took something that was going bad and made it good again. basically people look at zac as though he had everything "handed" to him (which he did)- however he DOES have talent and so he makes it work...
i guess i don't like him because he had everything handed to him. but he does have some great designs (if i must admit).
if anyone has any corrections to the above story please post- i searched for articles so i could quote things (why do i feel as though i am doing a research paper?) but couldn't find anything exact to post for you guys...
I liked some of the Tommy Hilfiger stuff, but the mass of the red, white, and blue is quite boring and old. I was in the company store like two weeks ago and saw a nice cotton sweater. It was great and was going to get it until I saw that ugly huge logo on it. The logo was seriously like 5 inches at least, eew.
I don't get MJ, either. Most of his stuff seems really weird to me. I've never been into TH or RL Polo. Just too over-used and way too mainstream and borderline ghetto.
