Where did you go to high school?  Did you like/dislike it? I'm trying to get ideas on where to send my app. Thank you!

No, I'm going to start teaching in MI and there are so many schools, I'm trying to get an idea of which schools or districts people suggest I send my app. to. I already researched a lot but I'm just looking for personal opinions.

I went to Marian High School, a lovely all girls, catholic high school in Birmingham.

You probably wouldn't want to teach there, althought the majority of my teachers were not nuns and very normal.  I can tell you that the Birmingham school district is very good, and so is Troy.  A friend from a million years ago may still teach at Country Day School - if I still lived in the area and had lots of $$$, this would be my first choice for my kids, second would be Cranbrook.

ah - Marian - a couple of friends of mine went there, as well as Brother Rice (I don't know if you can teach at Brother Rice though - it's a boy's school - don't know if that carries through to teaching staff - but I imagine it does).

Bloomfield Hills public school district is ranked very high - I would definitely send something there.  I second Cranbrook and Country Day.  There's also the International School in Bloomfield Hills where over-achievers are sent.  Birmingham public schools might be worth looking into as well.  Bonus with any of these schools is there's lot's of great shopping in this area...

I went to high school in podunk DeWitt (which is actually has grown into a pretty nice suburb of Lansing) Okemos school district is highly ranked as well - also near Lansing.  I wouldn't consider them though - Lansing is very econmically depressed right now - business are closing left and right due to automotive plant closings - definitely not the place to relocate to.

Hmmm, I know the principal at Bloomfield Hills high school but to sub there would be an hour drive. I'll  def. want to apply to work there after I graduate though. I was also looking at Warren schools because there isn't much of a drive and it's $100 a day to sub which is good for the area. Thanks for the recs ladies!

Warren school system-like Wayne memorial, Romulus etc. because I know teachers at those two schools. I'd like whatever school I sub at to be within 30 minutes of either Ann Arbor or Monroe.
