My new boyfriend is moving...

I am so sad, Matt the guy I have been dating for about a month, and my boyfriend I adore so much, just found out today he got the job he was hoping for which is in Seattle about 2-3 hours away!! I am so bummed for myself but I am really happy for him, he told me last night that it wouldn't change anything between us and we'll travel back and forth to see each other every week. I am so nervous about this. I REALLY like him now, and I don't want him to go!!! I just thought I would vent I wish this didn't have to happen right now... at least we have another month before he leaves!!

i dated a guy for 4 months (one of my longer relationships, so this is quite a feate) that lived about 3 hours away!  when you get to like 4 & 5 hours is when it becomes "long distance" so dont' worry, have fun!!

I'm sorry.  I did long distance (5 hour plane ride) for a year with my now hubby.  It sucked.  There were a lot of tears every time we parted, we saw each other about once a month.  We tried to make light of it by sending each other really cheesy postcards in between trips.

One bit of advise I have is to try to take the train between Portland and Seattle.  With gas prices, it isn't any more expensive than driving.  Plus, while it isn't bad in the winter, the drive between Seattle and Portland can be a nightmare in the summer.  The traffic can easily extend what should be a 2.5 hour drive into 6 hours on a Friday evening.  Ick!

My husband & I dated long distance (EIGHT hours) and we made it! Sometimes it's nice because you really miss them & you keep a healthy relationship going because you aren't up each other's butt every single day! Don't worry & enjoy the time you have over the next month.

I agree.  My husband and I dated long distance (I was in NC, he was in San Diego) for about a year.  It sucks not having the person around all the time, but on the other hand, it does let you focus on getting to know the person and really get good at communicating, instead of just having sex all the time.

2-3 hours away really isn't that far.  I know it'll be an adjustment for you, but it's quite do-able to see him on the weekends.
