Questions about Jeans

- How do you care for your jeans? Do you wash them after every wear?

-How do you keep jeans from fading?

- Are designer jeans better than non-designer jeans, and do they fade less?

-How many pairs of jeans would you recommend a girl have? How many different styles?

Thanks for answering the questions. I'm on the search for good jeans.

Some I dry clean; some I wash in the washing machine.

Do you wash them after every wear?

Not usually.  If they are still clean, I like to get a few wears out of them.  I think jeans take a lot of abuse in the wash and like to wait until they need it.

Dry cleaning

Definitely.  Not sure about the fading though.  I just take better care of designer jeans.  I would never dry clean my non-designer jeans.

Eight.  A few different washes for going out, a few that are nice for shopping, lunching and casual day at work, and a couple that you don't really like to do heavy cleaning or outdoor work.

How many different styles?

Eight?  :)

i wash all my jeans, cold and inside out.  But i RARELY wash them, I wear them for a long time before washing them.  I don't want them to fade.  I like "designer" jeans, i like their washes and fits.  I usually get discounts on them though.  Citizens of humanity tend to fit people pretty well.  I am currently looking for a nice pair of skinny jeans.

I wash them inside out with woolite, gentle cycle.

Do you wash them after every wear?

NO, every 2-3 wearings, Unless it's been one of those days wear everything lands on them.

See above.

I don't own designer jeans (like sevens and such) but I have noticed that say ON jeans fade almost immediately compared to the next step up like GAP, LEVIS, CALVINS etc.

I have wayyyy  to many.  I think you should have a few of every style so that you can rotate them.

How many different styles?

Whatever makes you look good and fits in your wardrobe- for example boot cuts fit my body shape best and skinny legs jeans look awful.

i wash them when they're dirty. i don't wear jeans everyday, and when i do wear them it's  usually for a couple of hours. so i probably wash them every 3 wears or so

-How do you keep jeans from fading?

wash inside out in cold water

- Are designer jeans better than non-designer jeans, and do they fade less?

yes & no. no b/c what matters most is how they fit, and every body is different. i've seen girls in pricey jeans that don't flatter their figure, and vice versa. yes b/c i've found that they do last longer. i have some levis that have not worn as well as my pricier jeans. they've faded more and look less new, even though i've had some of my pricey jeans longer.

depends. i think you should have going out jeans, casual jeans, and bummy jeans. but again it depends on your lifestyle. if you wear jeans everyday, then you'll probably need more.

Ladies, thanks for answering!

I've never bought designer jeans, so I don't know if a higher price means less fading.

I will try the woolite and gentle cycle. I always wash my jeans inside-out in cold water, but they seem to fade quickly. Also I wash them once a week. I get about 3 wears out of them. I have noticed that Old Navy jeans are the worst at fading!!! I have two pair that I've only had for less than 6 months, and they're completely faded.

every 2-3 times, usually.

-How do you keep jeans from fading?
don't put them in the dryer! I never dry my jeans

I think it depends on the brand. I have a pair of Levi's and a pair of cropped Gap jeans that I love -- unfortunately, I can't find a full-length Gap pair that fits me, and the Levis I like don't come in longer length, so I have to wear those as capris, too. I started buying designer jeans for the length, but I think the cut and quality of the denim is usually worth $100 or so. I never buy full-price. However, if I could find $30 jeans that fit as well, I'd be buying those.

honey's suggestions are good. I wear jeans 2-3 times per week, so I have about 10 pairs total (3 for around the house, 4 work-approp./dressy pairs, 3 casual), and I could really use another casual, basic pair.

I am a jean-a-holic.  Its the only thing I will really splurge on.  And I can only wear them on the weekends! I am ridiculous!

I don't wash my jeans after every wear,  It just is to hard on the fabric.  I will was them every 3 times of wearing.

I think designer jeans are better simply because I have found they are cut better.  But I think it all depends on your body style.  You could find a great pair of Gap jeans that fit you better than 7's.

The way designers "wash" the jeans for color (I heard) is different which might prevent the excessive fading, but no matter what you are going to get it if you wash them in detergent.  If you wear dark jeans, get the woolite for darks.  Personally I love the look of jeans that are lived in, so I don't worry about the fading too much (unless they are trouser jeans).

While I love my designer jeans, I have several pairs to bum around in that aren't designer per say.

If you are looking to buy designer jeans, let us know, we can recommend some for your body type and the best places to get them!!!

Good luck! I hope you don't become a jean-a-holic too!!!
