This morning at work two people had a meeting with a printer rep. Instead of going into an office or conference room, they proceeded to have a the meeting at my desk (I was not part of this meeting). They put their files and papers all over the edge of my desk and talked loudly (keep in mind, I have to answer phones and I can't hear when people are having a meeting ON MY DESK!!). Not too mention, I have work to do and they are having a meeting all over my space. Is this rude or am I overreacting?
Completely disrespectful! You have every right to be annoyed IMO - how would your boss feel if someone did that to them? Not good I'd assume - they probably permanently be on your bosses 'bad side'!

It really has me upset b/c I feel like a piece of worthless trash. I hate it here so much. I just want to walk out.
Oh my lawd, I SO would have had to throw down if I were you. That's completely disrespectful. You have every right to be pissed, but don't let it ruin your day. :hugs: You're better than that and those assholes don't deserve it anyway.

*SIGH* And to add insult to injury, I won't be able to take lunch tomorrow b/c no one will sit at my desk for me to take a break. People rotate the days and the person who does Friday is on vacation for the next week and a half and everyone else is refusing to sit up here. And I'm off next the following Friday (for interviews) and no one will sit up here then, so I'll get in trouble for that. What a bunch of bs. This place sucks.
You're definitely not overreacting--that is rude for them to do their work in your workspace. Did you say anything to them about it? I'd be a little ticked about it, but as Rica said, don't let it ruin your day. It's just a crappy job, so don't let yourself get worked up about it.
pretty sure that's rude! I would have peacefully asked them to meet elsewhere and laughed about it, perhaps none of them thought the meeting would be long so they figured they didn't need to go somewhere else.

i would have started like holding my hand over one ear while i was on the phone and saying things loudly like "i'm sorry, what? i can't hear you!"
Actually, I did that, but out of necessity b/c I really couldn't hear. Obviously, it didn't do any good. This company is just a complete joke. I can't wait to get out of here.
That's completely rude and I can relate - I happen to sit in a cube where the front wall is only a half way it's a ledge. People think that I must be the receptionist #1 because I have a ledge and people always stop at my desk and put their crap down and have mini meetings like that. It is so rude and disrespectful - it's like you're invisible or something you know? Everything this happens I just stare in disbelief or I get really loud on the phone - but people who are ignorant enough to do it, are ignorant enough to just ignore you. Ugh - I totally feel you Nyla - it's so rude
That is extremely inconsiderate and annoying. I would definitely get them to leave if they're still there. How about just mentioning to them that the conference room is available if they'd like more room? You can suggest that they might be more comfortable meeting in there. Surely they would get the hint then.
And how shitty of your colleagues not to help you out so you can have lunch!
I wanted to say that I've been following your posts, and your work sucks! I hope you get out of there really soon. I can't believe that noone will help out so you can have lunch, that's ridiculous. You're entitled to that! I'm sending good job vibes your way, good luck next Friday!
Ugh - that sucks. I think it's totally disrespectful. If they ever do it again maybe say something like "I'm sorry but I'm having a hard time hearing clients. Would you mind moving to the conference room? There's more room and I'm sure you'd be more comfortable. Thank you."
It makes me sad that the level of disrespect that you are forced to deal with on a daily basis is starting to cause you to question your own notions of respectfullness. I really really hope you are free from this situation soon.
These people are a-holes.

Damn, are you sure you aren't in Spokane? 'Cause this sounds exactly like the first place I worked there! I HATED having to be 'relieved' for breaks and lunch - I answer the phone for 11 hours a day and you can't be bothered to sit here for 15 minutes so I can shove some food in my face and pee?!?
Gaaaah! I hope you can get out of there soooooon!
