I've reached the point I can actually talk about his now w/o getting really angry.
My hubby lost his job on Friday.
A little history, he was a Foreman for a private owned construction co. This job was a blessing for us, it paid very well, great boss, and hubby got to do what he enjoyed. We hung out for Thanksgiving & b-days, since they have a baby the same age as ours. His boss started having money problems this summer. We should have known then to start looking for another job immediately. He assured my hubby he would be the last to go since he was most value & would let him know in advance if anything changed, etc. His boss said to expect close down from Mar-June of next year. We planned that hubby would find another job in January. I guess the owner didn't foresee what the future held, and ran out of $ and when hubby showed up for work on Friday, he said there was no more work or $. His boss apparently is completing leftover contracts by himself then he's packing up & moving to Utah & re-enlisting in the Army.
I was furious at 1st cuz his boss went out of his way to assure my hubby that everything would be ok, I'll give advance notice, wada, wada, wada and then lets him go just like that! But now I'm really scared and stressing out, Christmas is right around the corner, we live in a nice area and the cost of living here is really high and we really depended on his income. Luckily I got a promotion, but I won't see that $ til the end of Nov. Construction is really hard to get into around here especially if you dont have "connections" and the season has slowed down in preparation for the rainy months to come and my hubby has no leads yet!
Please pray for us & send good vibes our way that something better will come along soon!
I'm so sorry to hear that. It sucks to be in that stressful situation around the holidays, but it sounds like your husband is experienced and good at what he does. With all the construction in your area right now, I'm sure he'll find a job in no time!
I'm thinking of and praying for your family. Everything will turn out fine eventually... even though you say construction jobs in your area are hard to get, he shouldn't have too hard of a time landing one -- I mean, he was such a great asset to his last company, so that must say something. Keep your head up... I'm so sorry you have to go through this right now.
Oh I'm so sorry this happened to you guys, but you will make it through no matter what, just remember that. I will be praying for you guys and like indiekitten said, be sure he applies for unemployment.
hugs and prayers your way! Hope it all works out , just stay postive i know that is hard to do but when something bad happens to me I always say , it could be worse and i focus on the good things .Keep us posted
First off, thank you girls so much for your kind words!
Hubby got a call from a *Cold Call* he had made earlier this week. The company has been wanting to branch out into Patio & Master Deck Construction (hubby's specialty), but have had turned away 15 potential contracts due to the lack of exp. from their workers. They were willing to pay him top $ for his work. (Apparently he knew the quality of work his former company did) Well, hubby just called me, they had a lunch meeting to meet in person, and HE GOT THE JOB!!!! He will be getting payed so much more than what he made in the previous co. & he starts Monday.
Thank you for praying & thinking about us yesterday & today, once again it worked!!!
