How do you word an invitation to say you don't want kids at the wedding/reception? 'Adult Reception' maybe?

adult reception to follow

I think that's the best way to say it with regards to etiquette.  Also, if you're doing inner envelopes, write only the names of those whom you are inviting, aka 'Jane and John' instead of 'The Smith Family' or whatever.  Be prepared for people to call and ask if their children can come, people who don't come because they are offended that their children aren't invited, people who can't come because they don't have anyone to watch their children, and people who assume their children are invited and bring them anyway.

If your wedding and reception are in the evening, it may also discourage people from bringing their kids.
