PMS and getting older
Permalink Closed

O.K. - so I'm 3-0 - and I feel like my PMS gets worse as I get older.  When I was younger I felt like I wasn't really phased by PMS.  I don't know if I was just much more active when I was younger  - but it seems now the older I'm getting - I seem to really feel it - i.e.  feeling clutzy, forgetful, just much more hormonal, blow little problems way out of proportion, etc.  Does anyone else feel this way?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!  I feel the same way.  In fact, I spoke to my doctor about it a couple of months ago.  My PMS is worse and my cramps are killer now (I'm 32).  Getting older sucks.

Hmm, usually things like cramps are less severe once you've had kids.  My PMS and period have actually gotten better over the years, but I think I'm more in tune with my body now, which means that I notice things being 'off' more than I did when I was younger .  My usual 'symptoms' are different now too - I used to get cramps and a backache.  Now I don't get those, but I do feel extrememly achey, bloated, and hungry.  Trade offs, trade offs.

I hear you. I'm 37 and never had pms till very recently. I'm very irritable and sometimes want to kill my husband

Once i start my period, i feel fine and love him again.

My boobs which never were sensitive feel like they are an inferno about 10 days before i'm going to start. I have really bad insomnia at a point in my cycle every month.

And yes, every now and then, i get night sweats. I wake up and the back of my neck is soaked. i thought that maybe i had too many covers on the first couple of times this happend but my friend quickly informed me that these were the dreaded night sweats.

It's so fun being a woman

I'm the opposite. When I was younger, I used to get really intense cramps. Sometimes it was so bad that I was pretty much done for the day. Now, I barely even get cramps or PMS.

i'm like gypsyfreak. my cramps used to be so awful in high school that i would almost always stay home on the first day of my period. (until i got a prescription of percoset for my wisdom teeth, which i used for my period!)

the last couple years they have been bad, but nowhere near as painful as before.

Erin - I laughed out loud when I read that you used percoset for cramps.  Cramps can be killer and I'm sure the percoset took care of them!  Why fool around with Advil when you have percoset!
