hi! sorry to post this here, but i didn't get any responses in travel..
I was just wondering what were good places to go/stay in chicago for New Years eve... a group of my friends and i want to go for the weekend and i just wanted to get a better idea of places that are fun/places to avoid, etc.
i don't know what part of town you want to be near, but i just stayed at the W city center recently and would give it a big thumbs-up. the service was great, everyone was super-nice, and our room was very nice and a good deal. close to enough stuff to do and to the train to get everywhere else.
last year we did dinner and then we went to a club. the meal was nice, but expensive since most restaurants hike up the price for new years. the club was $75 all you can drink (cheaper for chicago i think). it was fun but i was annoyed because i got a cold, but refused to stay in...well, to make an extra buck, the club "rented" out all the seats in the club, so i couldn't sit down! i was super annoyed. i kissed my bf at midnight, popped some sleeping pills, and left the club (my boy followed me out, he wanted to make sure i was ok, and he was over it too).
i don't really have any club recommendations, but a lot of clubs do the all you can drink thing. usually it is $75-$125 for the bigger clubs. check out www.chireader.com or www.metromix.com
this year i have to work x-mas and have off nye, we're going to door county or traverse city. we went to door county one year and it was soooo nice. we got dressed up, went to dinner, and came back and had champagne and enjoyed the in room hot tub/fireplace.
i don't think i'm a nye girl.
