Did you have a Jake Ryan?  If you don't know what I am talking about in 16 candles Molly Ringwald was a freshman who had a huge crush on the older football star with a porshe and she never thought he even knew who she was.


Did you ever end up hooking up or going out with your Jake Ryan, or did you just oogle him from afar all 4 years of high school?


My story:  I had a Jake Ryan.  His name was Rob Evans and ironically enough he was the quarterback and he drove a porshe.  He was tall, blonde with hazel eyes and tan with a FABULOUS body.  He was a Senior when I was a Sophomore.  I was dating one of his friends at the time and we went over to his house.  He became kind of a football mentor for my little brother, so he was over a lot.  One forth of July we all went out to see fireworks.  When we got home my boyfriend left and he stayed "to hang out with my brother"  We stayed up till the sun came up talking and in the morning I made him french toast and he kissed me.  We spent a lot of time "kissing" when my boyfriend wasn't around, but he never found out.  After I broke up with my boyfriend, we started dating.  He went to college and we had a long distance thing for a while. We dated for about 2 and a half years. Afterthe first year the "Jake Ryan" thing kind of fizzeled and I realized he had actual flaws like every other boy.  But when I think about those first couple months, how excited I would get seeing his number on the caller ID or how nervous I was around him, it really takes me back.


He was the first boy I ever loved and the first boy I "you know" with.


The funny thing is that now he is 28 and living at home with his parents with no job (he has a bachelors degree in business from Valpo) and I am happily married with a good job.  Funny how things end up when you get older! 


Just thought I'd share and hear other stories!

He wasn't a "Jake Ryan," but he's a boy I had a crush on all through high school. He's just cool and funny and smart. Although I think maybe a little immature for me now. We were on again off again friends through out high school. We'd be really close for like 2 months and then not really talk for like 6. Then get really close again. We never hooked up, but I still feel like we kind of have a connection. Though, I don't think I'd want to date him now.

Did you watch Sixteen Candles last night?  I did.  TBS or something.  Yes, our school had a couple of Jake Ryans.  Although, no one as beautiful as the man himself.  Brief little fling with one.

actually i wasn't cool enough in HS to know if there was a Jake Ryan or not, but my own version was this hot older guy that i had a major crush on!  we hung out at lunch (in a group) and then one day he asked me out (a.k.a. be his gf, but not actually go out on dates).  i couldn't believe it, i was soooo excited, but then after a few days he said we should just be friends.  i was convinced it was because i was a bad kisser or something, but i never found out.  anyways, i found him on myspace a few months ago & we started talking again.  turns out he was (still?) crazy about me, but me about him... not so much.  unfortunately he stopped growing after HS, but i kept on.  also, he lives at home despite his good job.

I kind of had a Jake Ryan. When he was a senior I was a freshman... he was a gorgeous football player with a nice car and a beautiful girlfriend. He had no idea who I was. My best friend went to another school, so she didn't know who he was... he worked for a pizza place as a delivery boy, so one night we decided to order a pizza so I could show her who he was. We ended up ordering pizza once a week for months in hopes that he would deliver it . He graduated and I never saw him again.


There was another guy, too... he was also a senior when I was a freshman. He wasn't as cool as the other guy, and I don't think he had a car or a girlfriend, but he was gorgeous all the same. His locker was two away from mine, and I used to try to make small talk all the time... he didn't want to have anything to do with me. Come to think of it, my friend had a big crush on him, too. We used to get to school super early and hang out at our lockers (hers was in the same bank of lockers as mine) to see if he'd talk to us. He never did... he peobably thought we were weirdos . He didn't end up graduating with his class. Now he's really into drugs, had a two year old son, and lives with his mom. That makes me glad he didn't notice me, haha .

OMG-I totally did. David. The whole school laughed about how much I loved him-he knew it too. He'd give me a ride home from school sometimes and one time, oh my, he took me out for ice cream! I almost lost it. Now, even though I love my boyfriend, I was so sad to hear that he's engaged. Boo!

My school didn't really have the "Jake Ryan" or I just didn't care to notice. I think that maybe the girls that were less "popular" saw guys as "Jake Ryan" in our school. Because we didn't care about the "popular guys." We always went older and from another school.

But on the track team there was this guy Danny. Oh my god. Everyone loved Danny, everyone drooled over Danny- but alas, he had a girlfriend.
...until he broke up with her for me. Hehehehe *evil laugh*

Which in the end wasn't worth it, he was afraid of my dad and wouldn't come in my house. Weirdo.
