I am inspired by JMR's picture of her in-laws' big dog crammed into the little dog bed -- let's share some cute or funny things about our pets!
-When I'm standing at the kitchen counter, cooking, my cat Zoe (4 yrs) will stand up on her hind legs and reach one paw up as high as she can to get my attention. When I notice her, if I lean over to her face, she gives me little kitty-kisses on my nose
-My other cat, Tiger (15 yrs), is an indoor/outdoor cat. Our downstairs den has windows near the top of the walls.....when she's outside and wants to come in, and she sees us downstairs, she sticks out one claw and taps on the glass of the window with it! She's so smart - she totally cracks me up!
Wow - this could get long because I think my cats are super quirky - but maybe I'll find out they are normal.
chicken is an 18 pound boy cat - he has asthma & has to take Claritin or prescribed drugs from the vet on a daily basis. We got an air purifier about a month ago & have only had to give him meds once. We also believe he knows his colors because if he is hunting & I say "you know mommy loves the pink mouse" he will bring me a pink mouse. The fact that the 18lb male cat prefers the pink mice is funny all in itself. He will also bring me my fuzzy slippers, but not on command although I am working on it.
Bijoux is my gray calico female & is Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde - she either loves us & wants to be around us all the time or hates us & wants to bite & hisses at us. We can never tell which so petting her is always a gamble.
Zeus is my little baby kitten & she was a runt. Her tail is broken in 2 places, which makes her perfect to me (only a mother could love). She is EXTREMELY needy & will sit on my shoulder like a parrot.
And our sea monkeys - collectively named Nimrod for boys & Heriomine for girls - are quirky in that they are sea monkeys & we have them. We are in our 30s (or does that make us quirky?).
That was fun!

Who do you have to probe around here to get a Chardonnay? - Roger the Alien from American Dad
My 3.5 year old bengal Dexter is one quirky fella!
He knows some words - Dexter, Treat, Breakfast, and Drink.
Sometimes when he is chasing his feather-on-a-stick toy, he gets too excited and does a forward roll right off the bed.
He follows the same routine everyday - get up with Dad and have breakfast, get a drink from the tub, hang out with Mom for awhile, go to sleep (under the cover, or if on top of the covers only on the red part of the comforter ), get up around 5 and sit on Moms lap at the computer, greet Dad when he comes home around 6. Everyday. He gets really upset if Dad isn't home by 6!
He loves peppermint tea. It makes him really frisky! He also likes stickers and any small pieces of plastic.
FH can't bring me flowers because he finds them and plucks them out of the vase one by one until they're all gone!
A gratuitous kitty shot!

Halley very, very rarely barks. I don't think she can do it willingly. Instead, she has a little puppy-whine she uses all of the time. She also thinks my husband is the center of the universe. She won't even look at me when he's in the room. At night, if he goes to bed first, she curls up in my spot and growls at me if I try to move her.
Sully is part Husky, and he "talks" when you ask him questions -- he has this sweet sort of howl followed by these little "rar-rar" sounds that are adorable. He also loves to eat anything soft and white -- he devours toilet paper, kleenex and socks whenever he gets the chance.

My cat and my dog are very silly and quirky. The funniest thing is their morning routine.
They wake up at 5:30 every morning with my mom and go with her outside to get the newspaper. They play with each other (read: my cat sits on the arm of the couch while my dog walks by and swats her on the nose... over and over again) until 6:00 when she leaves for work and my dad gets up. He lets the dog out to do her business and feeds them both, as the cat follows behind him, meowing... he calls him The Inspector. Winnie (dog) scratches at the door and my dad and Meowie (cat) let her in. My dad makes his lunch as the animals watch, and then he gives the dog a slice of turkey. He picks Meowie up off the table (where he watches from) and brings him back downstairs to his food bowl with his little piece of turkey... that way, Winnie can't eat his share. After he's done, Meowie goes upstairs to watch my dad leave. He and Winnie sit on the love seat in front of the front window (and if my parents knew this, they'd flip ) as he drives away, and then they both sleep there until about 10:30 or so. Then they go off to do their own things.
My animals are all very confused, but they crack me up. I have a pomeranian, a tabby kitten, and two chocolate labs. My kitten thinks he's a dog, I'm pretty sure he thinks he's a pomeranian (which would explain why at only 8 months, he's a whopping 11 lbs!). My pomeranian thinks that she is a lab, and the youngest lab I feel hasn't quite decided what she is yet!
My kitten is very aggressive, he has no fear, not even with the labs. He is always running up & attacking my pom. He also fetches, it is the funniest thing. And just like a dog, he will not stop fetching until we stop throwing. He even does that dog thing where he'll get tired for a little bit & play with his toy on the side, but then bring it back to have us throw it again. He also has a cardboard box that he LOVES! I put it on my fireplace until I could throw it away, but, he just loves it, so it's now his little haven.
My pom just has so much personality, it's unbelievable. Her facial expressions & the way she moves around just is constantly cracking me up. When she's really happy she prances around.
The labs are sweethearts, and very loyal. We can take them off of their leashes and they will always stay right by us "protecting" us.
Animals are just so much fun, I couldn't imagine not having them!
my big fat kitty Boen, (18 lbs) tries to open door knobs. He stands up on his hind feet, grasps the door knob in either paw and turns. If he only had some leverage he could totally do it!! He also does this other thing when he's locked out of a room. He'll stick both paws under the door, grasp the door in his paws, and then shake it back and forth until we think the door's about to come off its hinges!!
Zipper, our other cat, will have conversations with you. She'll make this little chirping noise, and if you do it back to her, she'll do it again, and so on and so forth. It's kinda fun to have little chats with her. I always wonder what she's saying though, and what she thinks we're saying back to her
Our new puppy, Laney, sleeps with us sometimes, and wraps herself around one of us. The first night we had her, I woke up in the middle of the night and she was spooning with my boyfriend! Head on the same pillow as him, one "arm" slung over his shoulder, it was the cutest thing ever!!

That is SO SO SO funny!
I have a girl cat, Halle, and a boy cat, Rocks (he was named before he came to us). Everyone says if our cats were people, Halle would be just like me and Rocks would be just like my BF.
Halle is my princess, but Rocks really cracks me up. My BF has to be up by 7:30 am to feed Rocks his breakfast, otherwise Rocks will bat at us with his paws--and he is a huge cat, so it can actually hurt! He will eat anything, even cookies and candy! This cat also hates to see a closed door--he believes he should have free roam of the apartment. If a door is shut he will bat at it until we open it, only to walk in the room then right back out. Sometimes I think he will stop it after a few minutes, but NO, he will go at it for 10 minutes if he has to. Rocks also sleeps right above my head, and I got sick of having cat hair all over my pillow, so now he has his own pillow (Halle sleeps by our feet), and he only sleeps on it when we are also sleeping.
I really really love pets. I can't decide if they are generally very smart or very dumb, but I love them either way.
She barks like a crazy beast at new objects in a room (but not necessarily as soon as they are put in the room, sometimes it takes her a while to notice them, but when she does, it's a bark fest). When I was moving in, I had put my keyboard stand in it's box and propped it against the wall in the office. It was there for a few days and all of a sudden Lily noticed it and was convinced that it was going to get her and went into attack mode, barkly wildly and shrieking. Another time, I was going through my closet and had a big, black trash bag out. The dog was in the room with me the whole time, but it took her about 20 minutes to notice the ominous bag. When she did, she went lunging at it, barking and growling. She does this for the most random things, too--grocery bags, candles, a stack of papers, lamps, Christmas trees. She's nuts!
Example #2:
She also hates my printer. If she is downstairs and hears me turn it on, she starts to bark and growl and I can hear her tearing through the house and up the steps to the office to attack the printer. She gets right up at it (standing on her hind legs) and barks like a banshee. And then she gets beside herself as it spits out paper and tries to grab the paper and shred it. Once, the paper came flying out of the printer and she had it shredded in about 5 seconds. So much for that copy of my resume. If she can't get the paper coming out of the printer, she goes for something at nose level for her and tries to shred that. It's like she's so disturb that she has to vent her frustrations by shredding. She does this to a lesser extreme with the VCR/DVD player. She gets right up at it and barks when it turns on, rewinds, etc. No shredding, though.
Example #3:
She'll be laying down, calmly in her bed, and then suddenly she'll jump up and start chasing her tail for about a minute. Then she'll go lay back down.
Example #4:
Whenever someone is on the phone, no matter what Lily has been doing previously, she must, must, must be on the phone talker's lap. Apparently, she feels neglected and ignored when someone is talking on the phone and of course, this is unacceptable b/c she believes that she is the center of the universe.
Example #5:
She loves to be brushed. If you look at her and say, "Lily, where's your brush?" she starts to jump up and down and shriek and then she runs into the bathroom where the brush is kept. Then, if you get the brush out and sit down, she throws herself across your lap so you'll brush her back.
Example #6:
She loves 'scratchies' (having her back scratched). When you scratch her back, her little hind legs start moving really fast and she tilts her head back and to the side. It's hysterical.
Example #7:
She loves pillows. If she wants to lay on the pillow that you are using, she will just plop right down on it and on you.
Example #8:
You cannot close a door on Lily, even to go to the bathroom. If you do, she will throw herself against it and shriek, so you have to leave it ajar, so she can meander in if she so chooses.
Example #9:
Lily loves shoes and slippers! When she steals one, she grabs and tosses her little head in the air and prances about as if she's won a prize. Then she hides it under the bed. She also does this with towels, underwear and socks.
Example #10:
Speaking of towels, Lily loves wet towels. She'll take her head and rub it all over a wet towel.
She is one neurotic beast! But she's so funny and cute!
- He loves to play catch like a dog. He bring me his favorite mouse toy every night and makes me throw it for hours on end while he keeps bringing it back to me. And if I don't feel like throwing and try to ignore him, he'll take his mouse in his mouth and nudge it into my hand until I get the point!
-He gallops and seems to chase invisible objects! He runs around like a maniac and actually looks like a crazy kitty!
- He must always be picked up as soon as I get home from work. If I ignore him, he'll jump onto the nearest object (table, counter top, bookcase) and jump right into my arms.
- When I get out of the shower in the morning, he climbs onto our sink and will not let me get ready until I pet him for at least 5 minutes!
- When he meows a lot, I can talk to him and he'll keep meowing back at me like we're having a conversation!
That's all I can think of for now, but I'm sure there's more!
Oh, I though of another one! My kitty has a favorite TV show! He really likes to watch sheep herding competitions, you know when they use dogs the herd sheep around a specific course in an arena? He will sit and watch for hours!

Laken1, yes, I LOVE her little kitty kisses! She's so cute!
I thought of another weird one....my cat Zoe will wait until I get out of the shower, then she'll hop in the tub and lick all of the water drops on the bottom and sides of the tub.....when I catch her doing this, I try to stop her just in case there's soap residue or something!
Also, when the sun streams in through our dining room windows, she will lick the sunny spots on the hardwood floor! It's like she's thanking the warm spot for being there so she can lay on it! So strange.....
I have 4 pets: two cats and two new dachshund puppies. My black cat fetches like a dog and make a chirping sound at you when you walk toward him. He also will carry on a conversation. If you talk to him he will meow or chirp back at you. I think it is so cute.
She likes it when I swaddle her up in a blanket and hold her like a little baby. I kid you not.
She always knows when somebody is eating at any time. It's like she has a sixth sense for food. Whenever I'm about to eat something, she'll come running out of nowhere and stare me until I give her a bite of my food.
If I leave food in my backpack, she will unzip my bag and eat the food. It can be a whole sandwich or some cookies, it doesn't matter. It's like she's always hungry, even though I know she's not.
Stories like this are soo great. Pets are just amazing and it has been proven that people with pets live longer, happier, healthier lives.
We have three pets.. an Obese orange cat, named Frank, a gray and white sweet little cat with green eyes. Her name is Taylor, we call her Tay-Tay. And my baby boy, a Yorkie-poo named Ernie.
Frank sleeps a LOT, always in bed, on my husbands pillow, even if DH is sleeping on it. Every morning, DH will wake up half way down the bed with no pillow, because Frank slowly pushes him off throughout the night, until he has the entire thing.
Taylor is the sweetest thing ever. She talks Non-stop. We walk in the room and say Hi Taylor. She meows. We say How was your day? She meows. We can hold a full conversation with her. She always waits until you stop speaking to answer you. And each meow is different from the last, like she is really speaking another language. All year round, she lays on the vents in the house. Whatever room she is in, it is always too hot or too cold.. If its hot, its because she is laying on the air conditioning vent, hogging all the air.. cold? she's on the heating vent, guaranteed. If you touch her, her stomach will feel like an ice cube, or like its on fire.. I don't know how that could be comfortable.
Ernie is a little jumping bean. I think he could walk a mile on his hind legs. When I am eating something and walking around, he will follow me the whole way, never putting his front paws on the ground.
He also gives kisses with toys in his mouth. He has a stuffed monkey that he NEVER puts down. He will come over to you and jump up to your face as if he is kissing you, but he never puts down the damn toy. He like tries to shove it INSIDE your mouth.
He can not be left alone. He must be in the same room as someone at all times, or he just wimpers and cries like a baby.
Also, if he wants a treat, he knows that he will have to do a trick. So instead of waiting for a command, he will sit, give paw, lay down, and roll over before you even say anything. Like he wants to do what you want before you have to ask. It is the cutest thing.
I put cat ears on for Halloween one year and my one dog was so upset by it. I wasn't even wearing a costume or any costume make-up; I was just wearing all black and then a headband with cat ears. He was alternating between barking, whining, and hiding. It was so bizarre because I really didn't look any different than usual.
Peppy (black and white like Peppe le Pew the cartoon skunk) our 3 yr old Shih Tzu is the most spoiled little boy ever. He's in my Avitar, but its kind of dark.
-We tried to teach him to sneeze when he wants food- so now he sneezes when he begs at the refridgerator door!
-He loves his rawhide bones, and when he has more than one out he tries to put them both in his mouth. Little greedy doggy!
-He will jump up on your chest when he wants to be loved (petted) but if you don't pay attention to him he starts talking to you! (in the dog whine)
-If you blow in his face he races around the house in circle- we don't know why
-He loves to go in the pool! Captain Peppy!
-When I came home from college and he wouldn't see me in a while he would have me carry him around and his front arms would wrap around my neck like a child!
