A friend that FH used to work with and her husband just moved into their first house and they're having an open house/housewarming this Saturday. I'd like to bring them something, but I'm not sure what. A bottle of wine seems a little blah, and they're trying to have a baby so I was thinking maybe she'd prefer something else. I don't want to spend too much, but I was thinking maybe a candle and some flowers? Does anyone have any creative ideas of things you'd like to receive for a housewarming?
Thanks!

If you are getting them a candle or flowers, make sure you know what scents they like or what colors they decorated with. Maybe get them something for the holidays. Bath and body works has these 3 AMAZING christmas scents: Tree, spice(cinnamon) and frosted cranberry. They all make me drool and yearn for x-mas!! They have candles, room sprays and cute little decorations like wreaths and trees made out of beautiful shiny balls. Now you can shop online at bath and body too! Just an idea! P.S. The ornament ball candles are WAY prettier in person.

Crate and Barrel used to sell a sushi set for two. Or Target sell a ton of fun home items.
this isn't cute or decorative, but if I moved into a new place, I would love a home depot or lowe's gift certificate! you never know what you'll need - whether it's changing out a light fixture you don't like or bulbs for the yard. I would give a bottle of wine and tie a gift certificate to it...

I don't know if you have a Restoration Hardware near you, but I know other places carry this stuff - I personally would love to get some of that fancy detergents and cleaners - you know they have like lavender ones that are ridiculously expensive, and dryer sheets and the same stuff in cleaners -
i always want that stuff but i'd never buy it for myself.
It might be alittle too "industrial," but I think a gift basket of move-in essentials might be very handy: dishwasher tabs, one of those dish sponges w/ the handle you can fill w/ detergent, fancy air/linen spray, TP, lightbulbs, a roll of paper towels, coffee and filters, body wash, etc. You know, the stuff that you always need when you move in but can't ever find?
Or, if they're fairly moved in, how about useful decorative stuff like a napkin holder/salt and pepper shaker set (like Michael Graves ones from Target), a nice reusable basket of gourmet breads and spreads (like from Le Gourmet Chef or Williams-Sonoma), or a cozy boucle throw for the upcoming chilly weather?
I would be a little hesitant myself to give something to decorate their house with since everyone doesn't have the same tastes. I like the gift card idea (Lowe's, Home Depot, Linen's N Things, Pier One, etc.) Or a plant, inside or outside. I also like MissMee's gift basket idea with useful household items. Or maybe you could put food items in it instead?
