(Fun Post!) Men's Style
Permalink Closed

Whether you have a particular man in mind or not, what styles, looks, or actual pieces of clothing do you like to see men wearing? Sometimes, men's fashion can be difficult to describe, so--in addition to photos--feel free to include descriptions and/or examples of looks you dislike. Are there any celebrities whose fashion look you admire?

I'll start working on mine.

I love a guy in jeans, cool boots, and a sweater. I also like retro/vintage and punk elements. This is difficult. I like so many styles, it's difficult to pinpoint!

I like plaid shirts and jeans. And beards. So....hipsters/lumberjacks? :)

And suits, especially gray:

And messenger bags.

Also, there are things I like men to wear that I'm not necessarily attracted to, but it just makes me happy when I see a guy wearing it, if that makes any sense. Like watches. All the men in my family wear them, so I'm always so surprised when a guy doesn't have one on. Even though most men I know now don't wear them. I like rough/utilitarian looking ones.

And cardigans with ties:

Kelly - - maybe I'll just use your post as my answer!  I love the lumberjack/hipster look, as long as the shirt and jeans aren't too tight.

Oh, and the thick black rimmed glasses. I swear, Charles Manson could put on a pair, and I'd be like, "Oooo! He's so hot!" LOL

My favorite example:

Oh! And grandpa cardigans.

I think I may like any style that shows that the guy actually put some thought into what he's wearing (but not TOO much thought, you know?)

I love a guy who knows how to wear a scarf

And a guy who can wear a hat without looking like a poser.

And I like a guy who can wear a suit as comfortably as he can jeans.images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQwq9AivHH96UDaOXZqR4WqZqy9TNKplhV5l6wxtSy-iZu2F-WZalexander-skarsgard-golden-globe-2.jpg

Put it all together

and I think this look on a guy works no matter the age.

I almost posted about horn rimmed glasses! I love them too! Maybe I can talk my husband (contact wearer) into getting some...

he could use a little hipstering:

I'm not a fan of a man in a scarf as an accessory. I don't mind one with a winter coat, but as an accessory, I am not a fan.

I do love a man who looks comfortable in a suit, especially a well tailored one and cufflinks too. And, a man who can mix patterns and make it look intentional and thought out.

A buttondown worn casually with dark jeans and some casual leather boots is a great look too.

The sweater cardigan and tie look I can dig too.

Ironically, the only look my man can pull off is the suit. And I don't know how comfortable he is, but he at least looks it. He does look good in a thin sweater and jeans, which is about as formal as I get him.

And, D, if that is the Mister, he is very handsome (and appears to be as far from hipster as possible, but I suppose a suit will do that to a man)

Mr. D's a hottie!

Thought of one more - my absolute favorite sleeve style is long sleeves rolled up.

Long sleeves, eh.
Short sleeves, eh.
Long sleeves rolled up to the elbow - Ooooo la la!

hee hee "cute" "hottie" lol thanks -- I 'll tell him

yes very far from hipster. he looks fairly distinguished I think. No matter what you put on him, he still looks distinguished lol I think horn rimmed glasses would definitely give him some edge.

I agree with you on the shirt sleeve length, Kelly - I like rolled up sleeves a lot too.

Hellllllo Mr D.....

SO recently got into suits after we watched an epic Mad Men marathon so I'm really digging suited men right now.

And anything worn by my future husband Ryan Gosling, especially this- oh my

I like random little things and I have a lot of dislikes. I like a white crewneck tee under a dress shirt when just a little bit of the tee peeks out; I like a suit if the man is comfortable in it, I like a sportcoat over a funky tee with jeans, I like punk/rockabilly touches such as a wallet on a chain and skinny ties and Eisenhower jackets, I like hip-hop style when it's right on the edge of conservative, I like Malcolm X glasses, I like Chuck Taylors, I like bowling shirts and guayaberas.
