I don't have any ideas - but I've been thinking of trying the look too!

the times i do wear my hair like that, i put it up in a messy pony tail, cover the elastic with my own hair and i have to use bobby pins to hold the material

yeah, it tends to slide off if you have straight hair.  anyone have tips on how to get a ribbon or scarf to stay put?

i don't use a ribbon or scarf.

i buy actual headbands that are covered with a silky/satiny material that LOOKS just like it is a ribbon or scarf... i just bought one today from Henri Bendel... brand name is: Rachel Weissman

that is a link to a picture of someone actually wearing the headband similiar to the one i bought today.  unfortunately all their pictures are "Copyrighted" and I couldn't post it here...

hth!

i know... i actually paid $40 for it... but i loved it and knew i would wear it a lot... or maybe i was just telling myself that...

anyhoo- i would think there are knock-offs out there for much much cheaper.  but it is a much easier alternative than getting a damn ribbon to stay in place in your hair!

i just bought one of those rachel weissman ones last week, too!  i love it so much.  mine is black with big cream/beige circles on it.

it kind of looks like it would be easy enough to construct yourself.  i'm going to hit the antique fabric store near me soon and see if i can figure it out.  i'll post directions if i do ($60 is a lot for a headband, but i do really like mine).

i wish we had bendel's here in LA.  they do have the best hair accessories of any store--every time i go to NY, i treat myself to one from there.
