Best Oil Free Moisturizers
Permalink Closed

I have really oily skin and I'm due for a new moisturizer. The one I'm currently using isn't really working that great for me. I have an oily t-zone with really patchy dry skin in certain places. I can't use a lotion that's specifically made for break outs because it dries my face out too much. I'm thinking about getting Lancome's Pure Focus lotion. Has anyone used it before? Anyone have any suggestions?

cetaphil cetaphil cetaphil!  it's cheap and you can get it anywhere and there hasn't been a "best of" beauty section yet that hasn't featured it!

I don't think cetaphil is the best choice for oily skin.  That stuff is pretty greasy.  Just my experience.

it isn't if you use the regular one - (at least never has been for me)

there's another one that's more moisturizing that is greasy - but just the plain old regular moisturizer is great - i have combination skin and some of it is very oily - this is just good clean moisture ...  IMO

maybe you tried the other one, or got a random bad bottle?

sometimes you're oilily because you're lacking moisture in your skin so your skin produces oil.

i was using these really bad, bad alcohol-y and all oil-free products for a while and at one point my skin was soooo out of control greasy but it also looked dull and stripped.

after tons of advice from mua and mut, i started from scratch and got rid of all my foaming and super detergent-y face washes and started washing with cetaphil. my skin really improved, in oiliness, right from the start.

i just wanted to share my story as something to think about.

i definitely recommend purpose, aveeno, and olay anti-aging/ant-blemish.

i also recommend cetaphil facial moisturizer w/ spf (not the body lotion) i've been using it for years and love it

I have combo skin (oily nose and chin, normal/dry but acne prone cheeks and forehead.) and I like gel-creme textures. Shiseido makes one that $30 for a 6 week supply that I can't stop using.

Cetaphil Facial Mositurzer in the grene bottle with SPF is what I would use during the dead of East Coast winter...I find that it smells chemically to me, but the lotion is very mositurizing but doesn't break me out.

I also have oily skin.  I've never really been able to fully incorporate moisturizer into my skin routine.  I've tried many different moisturizers and I think my face just can't handle being moisturized every day.  When I do feel like I need it, I use L'Oreal Pure Zone Oil-Free Moisturizer.  It works well and doesn't make me shiny at all.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I just wanted to say that I used to use Cetaphil in high school and it worked well then, but I've tried using it as an adult, and it greases up my skin for some reason. I'll have to try some of the other suggestions. Thanks!

i just got the clinique moisture surge yesterday.  it's a gel-based, oil-free moisturizer that is very hydrating but doesn't have a lot of chemicals or other ingredients.  it might work for you as your moisturizer.

my skin is extremely dry, always has been, so i use it under my regular day cream for an extra boost.

My all time favorite moisturizer is the DDF ultra lite dew.  It's expensive, but I love it because it's not to heavy, and it doesn't break me out.  Sometimes in the winter it's not enough moisture, but I use cetaphil for those days when my skin is super dry.

i use neutrogena with spf 15, and i'm pretty happy with it. when i run out i'll probably pick up this ddf one that i tried in sephora. i also like kiehl's abissine serum (serum is oil free) but it doesn't have spf in it. also i don't like the cetaphil with spf. whatever spf they use is super strong and it burns my eyes. i learned this the hard way.
