need top ideas for these pants

I just bought these off ebay:

I bought them as an alternative to a dress to wear to a benefit dinner later this month.  The benefit is honoring my FIL, so I may or may not be noticed.  I don't think the dress is extremely fancy BUT it cost the people attending $5000/table!!!!!

I'd like to find something a little dressier for the to but am not sure what.  I'm short, so I'll need to keep the top and bottom from overpowering me.  I also have small boobs, so there ain't a shirt made that will give me a good cleavage look.

Ideas?  Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Anyone else?  I like the velvet top above!

I didn't want to say this, but I have those pants & really I can't imagine dressing them up to a point that I would feel comfortable in them at a $5,000 a table dinner. Sorry. They are really cute, but I'd wear something different. Maybe it's just me though.

I have them too, and the material is really a light t-shirt type cotton.  I'm not sure they'd look right that dressed up either IMO.  Sorry.

I kind've agree with Laken1 and ItsaPinkThing. I think they won't do your young hotness justice!

Of the choices, I like this shirt the best. I think the solid velvet and satin ones might end up making you look like you were wearing PJs. Sorry!

Well, crap!  Now I've got to rethink it all over again!!!!  I want to cover up because it's getting chilly here plus I'm always cold.  I sometimes feel silly in a dress because I have short hair and don't look that feminine IMO.  And I don't want to spend a fortune for a dress that I probably won't wear again.  I don't know that the dinner is going to be fancy.  It's for an adopt-a-student foundation at an inner-city high school.

So, you don't think they could be dressed up with some great heels and a fancy-ish top?  I don't have the pants in-hand yet, so I'm just going by their look in the picture.......

Here's what the auction said for the fabric:

Materials: 40% Polyester, 57% Rayon, 3% Spandex

I also have those pants and in my opinion the girls are right, the knit fabric is way to casual to be dressed up like that.  Sorry.

And nonsense about your hair, look at Hallie Berry, she rocks her short hair at black tie events!

I think you might want to go with something more like this. (The pants are Laundry at Nordies)
I think that the pants you posted would definately over power your shortness (I am short too! I feel your pain!)
