Pricing advice

I have a 2007 Ford F150 truck that I'm trying to sell. Its value, according to the Blue Book (or whatever my credit union used), is apx $24,000-$25,000 for a private sale situation. It has hardly been driven. It has 5,100 miles on it, and it's in tip-top shape.

My uncle definitely wants to buy it--which is great--but I'm having trouble finding the sweet-spot for price. You know. I want to make some money on it, but I want to give my uncle a good deal too.

Would you all call out a price or two and make some suggestions on how to present my price to him?  I have an idea for how much I want to ask, but I just want to test the waters a bit with my favorite advisory crew!  biggrin

Thanks!

Ask for the price you want and then negotiate. You have data on your side to justify why it's worth $24-25K, but he is also relieving you of the hassle of selling it to a private party, advertising it, etc.

Is he going to pay cash or would he need a car loan? If he has to finance it and make monthly payments, a thousand dollar difference one way or the other would translate to very little per month.

I would tell him the blue book value, but tell him you'll sell it to him for 20,000. jmo

Thank you! Those were some good considerations, Suasoria. And, D, we're on the same wavelength w/ price. I didn't know she was going to do this yesterday, but my mom quoted $20K to him last night and he came back with $19K, and we said that was cool.  All around, a good thing! Thanks again.
