My parents offered to buy my BF and I a digital camera for Christmas. I need your help because I really know nothing about them other than I should get probably 4 megapixels or more and I'd don't want anything too big. Do any of you have recommendations for me? Who has one they love?
I've heard really great things about Canon's, so I'm interested in those. I believe my friend has a Canon Powershot SD300 digital elph and loves it, but I can't seem to find it on the internet. Anyone know anything about this one?
Also, should we get a printer w/the camera and print our own pics, or does it make more sense to just take the pics in and get them processed somewhere?
I have heard good things about Canons and I am also a huge fan of Sony digi cams. I would highly recommend choosing a few that sound like a good match simply b/c of their specs (going to a site like Best Buy would be an easy way to choose a few) and then I'd follow up on those contenders with searches on Amazon (to see the customer reviews). I never buy techy or household items anymore without reading these reviews first!
Also, if you like zoom, which almost everyone does, remember you are looking for a camera with optical zoom. "Digital zoom" isn't really a zoom at all -- all it does it crop your pic for you so that it looks like a closer-up shot, but it's not!
I have a Canon A95 Powershot and I love it. I've posted about it a few times in Tech style if you want to look it up in there until I get off of work and can post more about it.
I love Canon and that's the only brand I will buy camera wise. I've never had a problem with them.
i have an olympus d-425 that i'm pretty happy with. granted i don't use it much mainly to take pics of friends. but it works really well, it's easy to use, the pictures turn out great, and it was really affordable ($150).
