I just got a pair for the first time in years and mine also feel a bit snug in the toes. They aren't too short and my feet aren't wide either. I've only worn them once and they weren't uncomfortable. Obviously the rubber toe cap won't stretch out but as the canvas starts to stretch yours will feel looser.
I have slightly wide feet and I've had to breka in my Converse sneakers for a few days. Before I broke them in, it was almost painful to walk becuase the area right around my toes was constrained by the shoe. I remember a particularly torturous walk around Tyson's Corner for 4 hours of marathon shopping in the then-new shoes.
Once they break in, they'll be your favorite sneakers ever.
I tried some on & I really really wanted them, but they made my feet look HUGE & I wasn't ok with that. I wish I could pull them off - no help on the sizing, sorry.
What color are you getting? I found some giraffe ones on ebay that I am truly in love with.
