while we're on the subject of hair color...

I need a new one!! Here are some pictures of me with various hair colors.  What do you think I should do? I want to go blonder, but not really, really blonde.

This was my superblonde, um, incident.  Not sure about this one.

this is a bit redder than normal.

a medium blonde moment.

these are pretty close to natural/growing out, it's a little bit blonder than this. Don't know why I have that weird look on my face in the second pic.

My hair has been black and deep red before, too, but that was frightening as all get out, so I'll spare you from that.  So, any ideas?

IMO this looks the best:

The very light hair makes you look a bit washed out.  You said that the pic above was pretty much your natural color, so I would go back to that and then have some medium blonde highlights done throughout.  And maybe some auburn sections as well?

Haha...this is how my hair is right now.  It didn't come through quite right in the pic, but my hair has very much of an auburn tint to it, with lots of blonde highlights and a light brown base.  Grrr...I want something different.

I agree with LMonet. This is funny because I was going to post something really similar and we have pretty much the same natural hair color.

I really like your current hair color. It definitely suits you. Maybe you can add some blonde highlights in. That'll look really awesome.

If, by some chance you still want to be "super blonde", you should try using some lavender/blue shampoo like Aveda Blue Malva or Clairol Shimmer Lights. Your first picture's hair looked really brassy.

No, I don't want to be super blonde again.  That was two years ago, I don't know what I was thinking.

I guess I'm just tired of my color b/c it's my natural color and I really haven't colored my hair alot in my life.  I went through a two year phase where I went from dark red, to black, to light red, to super blonde.  Then back to natural, so I guess I'm just tired of it and want a change from that. I don't want to go darker b/c it makes me look sick. Maybe I should post some pics of that, so you all can see the frightening sight!

I was thinking maybe the color of Jen Aniston's (just adding some blonder highlights into my hair).  Would that work?

Here are some pics of what I'm thinking of:

ok - at first i was looking at your current hair color thinking that you were crazy to change, but now that i see what you want to do, it's perfect - i think that those pics of jenn's color would really suit you well - very classy and not too much of a change.  i say go for it!

Okay, which do you like better, Jen Aniston or one of these (I know they're all kind of similar):

Edited to fix pics...don't know why I'm the only one who can see them. Sorry for the ridiculously huge pics!!!

Edited again: I give up! I have no idea why these pics won't post!

i really like your current color + the color of smg's haircolor in that picture. maybe have subtle lowlights put in (to blend your growing out roots/blonder ends -- which is what it looks like in the pic, but it could just be the lighting) and gloss the rest?

So, do you think highlights and lowlights together would work?  Sorry, I'm a haircolor idiot.  I've only ever had my hair professionally colored twice (once to highlight and lighten it when it was black and another when I thought it was a good idea to dye it construction cone orange).

Ooh! What about bright red chunks underneath or something?? Would that be ridiculous?

i think highlights and lowlights definitely work together. in fact, when i have a highlight client, i lowlight them every other highlight to keep it from getting too blonde. ask to have the lowlights in very fine sections (so that you don't have streaks). i think red underneath can look ok...my coworker just had this done (but more of a coppery orange) and it looks cool with his hair, but red is tricky. not only does it fade out fast, but once it's in there, it's difficult to get rid of. maybe a more gingery color that's a shade or two darker than your base underneath? that would look pretty.

i guess i dress/wear my hair pretty eccentric (it's been pink, purple, black, blonde and light brown all within the last year!), but i'm really more into classic/easy styles on other people...color that grows out nicely, and doesn't look dated. it's expensive to get professional color, so when i do my clients i like to make sure it's going to last/work for at least 3-4 months. (as long as the roots aren't super dark. but that is another issue)

OMG I hope you don't change it! Your natural color is *so* beautiful, and unusual. You're fortunate to have naturally gorgeous hair.

If you really want to do something, I'd go for the reddish tone in that first round of pics you posted (right after the blonde-y blonde). That was my favorite until I saw the pics of your natural color.
