Hoping you all can help, but maybe I just need to accept that there's no solution for this one.

Going out tonight - the boy wants to go for a hike, and then to some friends' for drinks. This would be my first time meeting the friends. In HIKING clothes? Not my first choice. I know I am being a dork, but I can't help it. I don't think the hike is too hard, so should I:

1. Suck it up and wear regular hiking clothes the whole time.

2. Wear something slightly less hiking-ish on the hike (maybe capri velour pants and a hoody or similar?) and either wear trail running shoes or switch to flip flops after the hike (instead of wearing hiking boots - I hate clunky shoes). Any suggestions on other less-hikingish clothes are welcome.

3. Other

TIA!

I'm over here shaking my head - boys are so stupid sometimes! Doesn't he realize that a hiking date is NOT a good beginning to then go meet with friends? Although i applaud the inventiveness of his date & that he's just not using a dinner / movie cop out!

I like the velour capri / hoodie with a tee/tank & tennis shoe idea- is it very chilly where you are? I just think that's a good "in between" outfit & you won't look high maintenance to the friends. I have to admit that I'm not really sure what a real hiking outfit would consist of?

I like the capris idea - velour would be fine, unless you have a cotton/twill pair and then I'd go with those.  And maybe a denim jacket to switch out the hoodie for for the 'meet the friends' part?

Ha ha, laken, you are so right! I'm sure he'll wear the same exact items and not give it a second thought. Boys.  Gotta love em.

LMonet, you're the best! Thanks! I love love love those purple sneaks. I think I can put together something like that that will work well ... possibly with my camo pants (thanks to laken).
