I'm moving to nyc soon (2 days) and want something I can wear there to work (these aren't my style for just hanging out.) So I tried on the green suede and loved the color, but should i get black plain leather? Are those totally uncute? Is green suede a bad idea for work? I have A LOT of suede (thinking about green j crew driving mocs, pink suede camper boots, tan suede Aldo boots, might get black suede Burberry flats..i'm sure theres more i cant remember) because i love it, but i'm scared it won't be practical when its raining or snowing- but should i even worry about that? New york girls- if you are going to work- do you usually change into your shoes at the office?
I think the black would look quite chic with pants or even some jeans for those days you just don't feel like wearing heels. Good luck on your move too!
i think the color choice would depend on your office, in my office, i could totally get away with the green, but it your job is more conservative then black might be better.
personally i don't like to do the shoe switch b/c i don't really like to lug a ton of extra stuff around during the day. it really depends on how much you walk each day. i usually walk about 40 minutes, and try to limit my shoe purchases to things that are comfortable enough to accommodate that amount of walking.
Not from NY, but DC, and I live in the city and walk ten blocks to work. I don't like to schlep things around either, so I have about 5-6 pairs of shoes at work that stay here, and I wear pumas or flip flops walking to/from the office. My friends love to visit my work "shoe closet."
So, if the black (or green) flats are going to be purely a work shoe, you could leave them there and they will stay nice for a long long time.
