I often go to Blockbuster at 8-9 at night to get a movie when my bf and I are bored. By this time, all the new movies are out. So, what are some older movies that are good and worth getting? Thanks ladies.
comedies: Groundhog Day, Roxanne, Metropolitan, Being John Malkovich, Wonder Boys, About a Boy, Election, Bullets Over Broadway, Defending Your Life, Flirting with Disaster, Get Shorty, High Fidelity
dramas/thrillers: The Insider, Heat, Reversal of Fortune, The Limey, Bound, Dead Again, Blood Simple, The Fugitive, Body Heat, The Big Easy
dramas: Love and Death on Long Island, Miller's Crossing, Big Night, The Ice Storm
period movies: Age of Innocence, Angels and Insects, Elizabeth
There is this great movie from the early 90's called Where the Day Takes You. If you can find it (it's hard to find) rent it! It's so good. It's got a bunch of actors like Dermot Mulroney, Lara Flynn Boyle, Will Smith - before they were famous.

don't forget ricki lake!!!
i was going to post this, this is my favorite movie of all time...plus the majority of the soundtrack is melissa etheridge, and i love her too.
another i like is "this thing called love" (i think) - it's river phoenix's last movie. it's got a lot of country music in it, so if you hate country you probably won't like it.
i'll try to think of more, i just got so excited when i say where the day takes you that i had to post immediately. lol.

asf - i am cracking up! I was so excited to see that two other people had heard of Where the Day Takes You! Everyone I ever tell about this movie has no clue what I'm talking about. It is soooo good. And I love The Thing Called Love Too! I forgot about that one.

I love this movie, I adore Samantha Mathis.
Clueless, Shallow Hal, Resevoir Dogs, Made, Dazed and Confused, Saving Private Ryan, My best Friend's Wedding, Charlie's Angels, The Sweetest Thing, Waking Ned Devine, Still Crazy, Love Actually, Gilda, Indiana Jones movies, old Star Wars trilogy, Marilyn Monroe movies: Some like it hot, How to Marry a Millionaire, Bus Stop, Seven Year Itch, Gentleman Prefer Blondes. Audrey Hepburn Movies: Roman Holiday, Wait Until Dark, Sabrina, My Fair Lady, Breakfast at Tiffanys.
My all-time fave is Sixteen Candles followed closely by Grease 2. There was a goofy horror flick I used to like called April Fool's Day. War of the Roses is funny in a demented sort of way. I loved the first Revenge of the Nerds. I also like two old Brooke Shields movies: The Blue Lagoon and Alice Sweet Alice.
Ever After, Blow, Big Fish, The Life of David Gale, Stage Beauty, Slackers, Down With Love, Lord of the Rings (maybe have a marathon?), Mean Girls, Brotherhood of the Wolf.
