Before You Get Married Books...
Permalink Closed

all this precana talk made me wonder if any of you ladies got one of those questions to discuss before you get married books.  and i'm not talking about a book offered through the church.  if so, did any of you find it beneficial?  like were there questions in the book that you never really thought to ask each other, etc??

because i know SEVERAL couples who have gotten engaged and then found out something that they couldn't get past.  like one couple the guy didn't want to have kids and that was a deal breaker (to me that seems like something basic to know).  so anyway, i was just wondering...

I haven't and since I am not Catholic I really don't know anything about the pre-cana stuff. I have been with my finance for almost 7 years so we pretty much know everything there is to know. I do agree that pre-martial counseling is a good idea and we are currently looking into that.

yeah, i have been with my boyfriend for 4 years (not quite as long as you) and i feel like i know most things.  but there are questions that i think are so outside of the box, but could happen, so i was wondering if there was a way to bring these up.  and i was just curious if anyone has used one of these books.  i don't know.  i'm sick right now and i think maybe the medicine is getting to me and making me a bit loopy with too much time on my hands.

I did the pre-cana thing, so I didn't buy a book like that. If they are cheap though, I think you should. Even though FH had already talked about most of the stuff, it was nice to talk over it all again in a more formal setting. I mean, before stuff had come up in conversation or whatever but it's not like we sat down meaning to discuss these things.

Plus, it was just super romantic sitting together and talking about how we saw our future together. ANd you might learn a thing or two as well (for example, I learned that FH is super sensitive about his hair and that he hates it when I forget to hang up my towel.)
